I was playing hackeysack over the weekend - threw my left leg back to kick the sack from the back, heard/felt a thump/pop in area just under my buttcheek, and felt the most excruciating pain. It smarted for a litle while - I quit playing. Within an hour or so I was walking around and didn't feel all that bad. This morning, I woke up and barely could walk, sit, or bend over. I have an intense pain just under the back of my left buttcheek. My back thigh doesn't hurt at all - its above the thigh muscle, or where that muscle ends.
After I walked some of that morning stiffness out and took two motrin, the pain has gotten better - but stil hurst and certain positions CRUSH me with pain. I may see a doctor if I wake up with no improvement tomorrow.
I am very disgusted with this injury - I have been really enjoying running - up to 3.7 miles now - and I am scared to death that this will discourage me to the point of gaining weight back. How long will I be out of commission?
How stupid to have this happen over a silly game of hackeysack. (Haven't played in years and was just trying to teach my son a little about the game)

Sounds like your adductor muscle. I pulled mine 3 weeks ago. It is very painful... you need to ice it, elevate your leg. Stay off the leg as much as possible and don't exercise. I am starting to walk very very slowly.
At first it hurt where you said then it started hurting in the hamstring and inner thigh too.
I wish you luck with the healing but don't expect it to get better fast...... well mine hasn't. You can work upper body.

Its in the back of my leg, though - isn't the adductor up front?
Also - There is some pain in the middle of my buttock. It hurts to sit on a toilet! UGH0 -

That's where I had the most pain at first. You may want to see a doctor. I couldn't, I don't have insurance.0
