Red Lobster and sodium

Hey everyone. My bf and I are going out to dinner and I am craving some healthy seafood. I found a coupon for Red Lobster and thought of going there. Last time I went there I did ok but looking at the nutrition, everything has ALOT OF SODIUM. Like some have over 2000 mg of sodium. That is INSANE. If we do decide to go there, what should I get? I love shrimp and scallops.

Thanks!!!

Just drink a lot of Water....every restuarant has alot of Sodium....you cannot avoid it.....once and a while is not going to kill you.

Drink water and your body will get rid of the sodium it does not need. Enjoy!!! there are lots of great choices....

of course scale back on all the butter they give you with the stuff....Enjoy yourself!!!!!!

I agree - if it is a special occasion - don't fuss too much about the sodium - drink lots of water - and get back on the "salt watch" the next day.....

It is more important to watch your total calories when eating out.....have fun - and enjoy your treat

Teach yourself that sodium is disgusting. So whenever I go above 2000mg of sodium I literally feel nasty so I just chug water to offset that amount of sodium that I've consumed.

While you're at the restaurant, it's important to ENJOY the food. So I wouldn't be thinking "I NEED THIS CUP OF WATER NOW" .. Enjoy it while you have it because most of the time you're probably eating healthy.

Just one of CommandaPanda's tactics for success ;]

Thanks guys... But now I am debating on not going there. The meal I want is shrimp, chicken and scallops. Its in my calorie goal but over 3000 mg of sodium.... Is it worth it? or should we go to another place?

I would eat if I wanted it. You don't eat like that every day, so one day will be fine, enjoy yourself.
