I hate dieting. I mean, this site seems cool because its not one of those diets that limits what types of food you eat. I love food. I have recently come to find out that i suffer from binge eating. And here I am thinking.."Uh....everyone eats like this...I'm no different." Yeah....not the case. I hope this works. I need motivation. Perhaps a hiking or swimming buddy. Any takers?????? I like to do any work out that does not "feel" like I am working out. Hula hooping????? Takers????????????????????

this site is to help you pay attention and make changes within your own lifestyle. Everyone has their own way to loose weight and do exercise. Its about motivation and determination to make the first step to a healthier you. WE all love food and food for some of us is harder to resist...but we push ourselves to say NO and resist that tempation. Seeing the scale drop because we are eating better makes us feel good about ourselves inside and out.0

don't think of it as a "diet"... diets come and go... think of it more as a lifestyle change, to learning to eat healthier and live longer!0

jump roping walking bike riding playing with your kids yard work....anything that keeps you active is a plus
now if you start with "I hate this" but your profile says "this is the last time" you are pretty conflicted. Just give it a shot. what is the worst that can happen? You start to feel better in general and even if you get stuck along the way people here will help and support you and can guide you to tweak what may or may not be working, but you have to start with trying first and be positive.
It will happen.0 -
I hate diets too. Most of us on here this site do. We are here to make lifestyle changes. We want to lose the weight never to find it again.
There are a lot of members on here that are supportive, encouraging and motivated to help each other. Feel free to add me if you wish.
Good Luck with your journey.0 -
I guess I am just frustrated with the process because of my circumstances. I am in a relationship and we have been together almost 2 years. After a year and a half, I gained 40 lbs. I woke up one day like...........who the hell is that in the mirror and how did i get here? I know I can do this with lots of work but its difficult for me to do somethings without immediate responses and satisfaction. But thank you for the advice. Well appreciated!0

I'm not on a diet. I'm eating better, exercising more, and trying to be healthy. Sure, I'm going to have days where it's harder to stay on track, but after those days are days where I'm more determined than ever. I don't think I'll ever be able to stop doing this - if I do, I'll go back to where I was and all this will be a massive waste of time and energy. Sure, when I get to my goal, I'll be able to relax a little bit - maybe go out for dinner more often than I'm allowing myself now. But I'll always have to exercise, and I'll always have to try to stick to healthier choices when eating.0

Totally agree ... I am a binge eater too and now I have it under control ... supplementing with exercise ... yeah, NEVER thought that would happen!!!0 -
I dreaded going on 'a diet' as well. I'm a junk-food junkie. But, for me, MFP is all about calories in/out. I found I can still eat foods I like... just a little less of them. :-)
I used to go to Togo's and buy a large sandwich with chips and a drink. Now I buy a regular sandwich, no chips, and drink water.0 -
For me there's been no dreading, and no dieting by the way I've always thought of dieting. Instead it's been education and change, slow but sure.
And honestly, I've been loving this.0 -
This is the first diet I've ever LOVED. Right now I'm eatting normal real foods, just making a few tweaks. So as I lose weight, I will make even better tweaks. By the time I'm far into my long term goal, I'll be healthy and not really feeling the lifestyle change. I don't starve, I actually feel I eat too much. The trick is to try and log things BEFORE you eat, so it makes you realize the choice you are making.
As for exercise, I have added in normal or fun things in. Mowing the yard more often (my yard looks better than ever!), walking to the neighborhood pool rather than driving, Swimming or playing with the kids in the pool, mall walking with a little window shopping, and then today, I danced with my 4 year old. And I'm having fun doing it! Well, maybe not enjoying the mowing, my its making the neighbors happy.0 -
I have changed the way I eat and actually love it. I feel better eating low carb and lots of fruits and veggies.0

you CAN do this....
like you said it was a year and a half in the making so it will be slow and steady to make sure it comes off in a healthy way too.
make it a lifestyle change.
If you say and think DIET the 1st 3 letters are DIE....don't deprive yourself just make healthy choices. Everything in moderation even chocolate
take your plate
50% leafy green, salad, low carb veggies
25% protein
25% other....either a carb or a serving of brown rice or a few squares of dark chocolate,
go with protein for breakfast to keep you fuller longer
and dothe 50, 25, 25 for lunch ad dinner
have a low carb snack or 2 like almonds or half an apple with peanut butter, cottage cheese or low fat cheese or a salad
friend me and we can chat more0 -
Hello! Welcome. This site is amazing.
I hear ya. I met my boyfriend almost 2 years ago, and gained 25 lbs! I hate looking at myself in the mirror. I dreaded going shopping...it was terrible. I don't like diets but this website is a LIFESTYLE change. I'm so aware of what I'm putting in my body. I've been keeping track of what I'm eating and my exercises for almost 6 weeks. I've lost 7 pounds. I'm so much more confident now! I crave carbs ALL the time. I still eat 'em, I just have to know that if I want to eat X amount of carbs then I have to workout for X amount of time. I hate the gym. I'm very active as well. I swim and hike a few times a week. I love hula hooping and jump roping. There are so many different things you can do to stay active. I hope you like this website as much as I do. Feel free to add me as a friend, and good luck!0 -
Diets don't work in the long run, you gotto make a lifestyle change.
I actually make a "game" out of seeing how healthy I can eat. Getting better at it all the time.
You can do it. Remember the less crap you eat the easier it is to lose weight and get healthy.0 -
well what do you consider crap? lol0
