Need lots of Healthy Appetizers! Help!
Hello MFP Friends. My husband and I had a small wedding in January with close friends and family only. Now we are having a summer reception/housewarming party......and it sort of crept up on me - IT'S THIS FRIDAY!!
I'm in desperate need of some healthy snack and appetizer ideas! What we thought would be fun [to drive home the point that we have a new lifestyle] was to put little note cards with the name of the food and the calories per serving. So PLEASE send me appetizer and snack ideas [with calories per serving]. The party starts after 7 pm, so we will not be serving main course foods which is helpful.
I'm feeling overwhelmed by all the search results on Google and figured I'd do best by getting help from MFP Peeps!
THANKS!!!!!

Hmmmm....my supper tonight could be maybe be used as an appetizer!! It was so friggin good and healthy and really quick/easy to make! Depending on how many appetizers you need to make, you could always use smaller mushrooms than portabellos. Only 181 calories per HUGE mushroom, so if you used smaller mushrooms, Im sure it would be way less.

I love appetizers and many of the ones I'm drawn to aren't healthy lol but here are a few suggestions. On skinnytaste.com I know there are healthy onion rings, jalapeno popper recipes that look really good.
Caprese salad (tomato, basil and fresh mozzarella)
Marinated olives
Deviled eggs with low fat mayo or even use dijon instead of mayo.
Spiced nuts
Veggia quesadillas
Hummus with baked pita or this recipe for variety

Bruschetta (other than the bread it is pretty healthy--tomato, basil, onion, oil and vinegar) There are a ton of recipes for different varieties too so you could make it with whatever you like.
Fig and Olive Tapenade (it does have cream cheese in it but you could always use fat free variety)

Olive Dip

Walnut Pepper Spread

Hopefully this helps! Good luck!0 -
if you're looking for finger food, try this. its delicious, summery, and seriously low calorie.
take a grape or cherry tomato and cut it in half
cube up some mozzarella cheese so its about the same size as a half tomato
grab a basil leaf and wrap it around the cheese cube
thread half the tomato onto a toothpick cut end toward the middle
add the basil wrapped cheese so it faces the cut end of the tomato
cap it off with the other half, again part of the tomato facing in towards the cheese
essentially the only thing you're getting calories from is the cheese. my best guess is 30 cals? i'd recommend cubing up some cheese and weighing it to get the correct information. the basil is negligible and cherry tomatoes have maybe 5 calories a pop. it tastes just like a brushetta minus the calories and carbs!
good luck and congratulations0 -
