pelvic floor

Ok sensitive subject but one I am sure many or us think about often.
Since putting on weight and having a child I know that my control is not what it used to be and my muscles are not so tight. This is really starting to get to me as i am lacking confidence.
Now I know there are exercises but I just wonder if others have any advice.

Hi Zoe. Firstly don't sit in silence and accept this - go and make an appointment with either your GP or practice nurse as they are often able to make sure that you get the help that you need. Carrying out your pelvic floor exercises is important, but in my experience most people don't actually tense the right muscles so it doesn't help, You also need to make sure that there isn't an underlying problem which you are not aware off. So many things can happen during childbirth that really you need to start with the medics or a specialist physio trainer who can help you get back pre baby condition (or better!!!)0

I would go to the doctors & talk to one about it.
This might be graphical for some people, i do not want to upset anyone.
I have had four children all naturally, my pelvic floor is not very good, i leek if i cough, sneeze or laugh to hard. also if my bladder is full.
I went to my doctors, she asked me questions & done an internal exam. She asked me to do my pelvic floor with 2 fingers, then 3. She said to me mine are not very strong & would send me to see the contence clinic. I also had to give a wee sample to check i had no infections that could be causing the problem.
I went to appointment, we went though my history (about having my children ie what were the births like) what problems i was having. She asked me to do a diary for all the liquids i had for 3 days & what time i had a wee & approx how much wee. We did not do the exam as i was on my period @ that time.
I went bk to see them with my diary we spoke some more about everything. I had an exam, they have a machine the an test how much you can use your pelvic floor. She recommended a machine that can help with you pelvic called PelviTone (neuro trac is what is also called) here is a website http://www.pelvic-toners.co.uk/pelvitone.htm
I have been back today & got the machine. I go back in November to see how i am doing with it. There is a great extra that can happen with it, it can help when having sex (i cant always feel my dh & i know its my pelvic floor) i can not wait to see what my dh will think after a month of using this machine.
It was the best thing i did.
I hope me talking about it will help some ladies on mfp0 -
Just to give you an up date, I have been using the PelviTone every day for an hour. My husband told me last night he can feel a difference already & so can i :blushing:
So Ladies i would recommend speaking to the doctor it will be worth it in the long run.0
