Changing up exercise?

I know that your body gets used to the same exercises but what if you do the same but more? I love Leslie Sansone's power walking videos and I start at 2 miles at the beginning of the week and end with 5. Is that enough of a change up or do I need to do something else as well?

That's an amazing start!!! I think it is important to switch up the body motions to get the muscles moving in different directions. I was a sedentary size 16 stay at home mom, who never exercised. I'm now a fitness instructor who teaches spinning and Body Pump many times a week. I KILL myself during spin especially and I'm never ever sore because my body is used to it. I can do something less intense, but new and I can't move the next day. LOL!

I agree that is amazing but I would also suggest adding different exercises to work the various muscle groups. Maybe try interval training while walking? Add a jog to it for 30 seconds or however long you can? Try doing other various exercises at home such as jumping jacks, jump rope, sit ups, push ups, etc and see what you can do. Sometimes we have to trick our bodies to get to new levels of results. Good luck!

I would also have to do something different. I walk/jog 2 miles Mon - Fri and I get really sick of it sometime. I also workout with Jenny McCarthy for 15 minutes Mon - Fri. On the weekends I'm trying to do the Jenny Mc game twice a day on the weekends.

I have known a lot of people who have lots weight and kept it off just by walking the same few blocks every day. I think it depends on your goal and rate of loss that you want. I am mainly walking, with some strength training 3 - 4 days a week, because it is exercise that I enjoy. I will do exercise I enjoy, and I know from experience that the stuff I don't enjoy I will not keep up with. I will be happy to lose a pound a week and know I can keep walking for the rest of my life. It is something I can and will maintain.

Some days I do T-Tapp Walk Away the Inches - there are lots of different steps and some cardio added in. Most days I walk outside.
