I started Insanity last Monday, so today was Day 7 of working out, if you count the Fit Test. Second try at Cardio Power & Resistance. I felt like I did worse than I did last time! Seemed like I was in Child's Pose for a good portion of the workout. I tried, I really did, but it was just not THERE today. For those of you who got through Insanity....did you ever feel like a failure? I feel like I should go run on my treadmill a bit to make up for what I couldn't do today. I love this workout, but I feel like I might be giving up too easily on some of the days. Ugh. Thanks for your input.

Some days are easier than others. I actually hurt myself in the 1st month and had to take 3 days off to recover. That workout felt like I did it half way. Just stick to it and you will improve especially after you complete the 1st month. I actually felt like I started all over by month 2 because it constantly shocks your body with different & longer workouts. Make sure you are following a great food plan along with it. I could have had better results if I did. I used Insanity to jump start my weight loss and get my lazy tail in shape!

I had a day like that on Day 8 (last week) and ended up doing the workout a second time the same day. I did the workout just after waking up and had nothing in the tank to fuel the workout. I did the workout again after lunch and felt fantastic. So whether you redo the workout entirely or add a bit extra if you have time, I say go for it. I had my second fit test this morning and definitely could've pushed harder. So for lunch I plan to go for a jog. Just keep on doing what you're doing. I anticipate that come week 4 or 5, I will still have days that I feel like I am failing the workouts.

I agree that some days a just better than others but my best advice for you would be to just go at your own pace, do what you can, modify what you can't do but don't give up. I found that I got into my grove in the middle and end of the second week (in both months). You will be amazing how much stronger you get. Just keep at it. Good luck!!

If your cardio endurance is lacking when you start (and I've yet to talk to anyone that wasn't), don't quit. Getting this up to a good level is the toughest part in my opinion.

I was at least thru week two before I started to feel like I wasnt going to die during the warmup. Quite honestly, I was well into month two before I was starting to feel stronger. I've just finished two rounds of Insanity...and I feel great...it still kicks my butt and I'm starting another round of month two (until I figure out what I want to do next). You will get to the point where you are stronger, can hang thru a majority of the program...and you enjoy having Shawn T mop the floor with you....it's addictive!

If you have to take a break...take a break! Get your breath and jump back in (heck..it even says that on the screen! )

When I started out...hell yea it was hard, and I definitely did NOT keep up with the crew on the screen. My advice...do not try (yet)...push yourself and stay safe until you feel stronger. If you are still pushing play, and still pushing yourself..then you should not feel like a failure.

If you are dogging it (and you usually know when you are...we all have those days), listen to the queues from Shawn and get those last reps in ...you have to push yourself, you have to want it. You can do it...only 53 days left!!!!

    Good luck!

The first week is tough, but it gets better. I laid on the floor for 20 minutes after the first workout, too sore to get up. By the second week, the pain went away and I was able to move like a normal person again. I had finally gotten into the groove and was feeling good about the workouts and BAM!, it was time to move on to month 2. Same thing though, it came more natural after the seconds week. However, the first time I did Max Interval Sports Training (part of the deluxe set), I felt like a total failure. I couldn't keep up, and I was so frustrated that I was on the verge of tears and I swore I was just going to stick to the regular schedule and not do that one again. Well, pride got the better of me and I decided to give it another try... and it was fine. Tough, but not nearly as hard as the first time. Insanity is just as much a mental challenge as a physical one, so keep pushing through. It doesn't matter if you can't keep up with Shaun T or the rest of the crew, what matters is that you do your best without hurting yourself. For me, that meant having to jog through some of the jumps because I have bad knees, and that's ok.

If you feel like you still want to work out afterwards, by all means, go for it. But don't do it because you feel like a failure, do it because you want to take another step towards improving your health. So long as you're pushing play and giving it your best effort, you're NOT a failure. (Just remember, don't hurt yourself!)

I'm only on day 6 of my first go round with Insanity and I too am way behind the people on screen. The plyo cardio circuit feels nearly impossible to me. I have a terrible time with the push up and knees in/out portion of the workout and my old wrist injury gets me every time. I'm just trying to stick with it, do what I can, modify what I have to, and stay positive. Feel free to friend me and we can motivate each other since we are so close in the Insanity calendar. Best of luck!

Insanity is amazing! I am almost done with month one and I am already seeing results. Honestly I just noticed a change a few days ago. If you don't results in the first couple weeks don't give up! A lot of what your results will be like will have to do with how much extra weight you have to lose and what athletic ability level you're starting from. As long as you have the right recovery drink and are eating well, you'll be able to pull through. Make sure you sleep at least 8 hours each night. I've noticed I am able to perform much better when I've had plenty of rest. Are you following the nutrition guide? It's too hard for me to do but I am eating more frequently and switching to a more protein heavy diet as opposed to carb heavy. I have noticed that has improved my workouts as well. Feel free to contact me with any questions! The greatest thing about MFP is that we have each other to lean on.

I'm almost done with my first month and I've got to say I'm doing more reps and trying to keep up with them more so I feel like I'm doing worse when actually I know I'm doing better than the first time I did each dvd. It's designed to make you push at your own rate and get as many reps as you can in the alotted time! So maybe this time you just did more reps during the warm up than you did the first time so you felt more tired than the last time because even though it's the same dvd you did more reps and had a harder workout!

I dunno if that makes any sense!

It always has me feeling like a failure but the mirror is starting to tell me it's working!
