Hey Just wondring if anyone has taken any meditation classes? Do they really help with well- being and stress. I think alot of my struggles with weightloss come hand in hand with unhappiness, stress, depression..life in general. Just wondering if anyone has tried it..and maybe what types of meditation to start with.

I've just started meditation classes and I believe they help me feel more at peace and more at tune with my physical body. The class I go to is a very light yoga/chanting/and meditation class so it incorporates all three. My husband goes with me, and he feels relaxed by it too.

What was the class called so I know what to look for? Thanks.

I have done and HIGHLY recommend Kelly Howell who does guided meditation cd's, sacred body being my favorite it really turned around my eating habits so I no longer have binging habits. You listen to a 30 minute guided mediation with headphones (theta waves in the background) for 30 minutes for 3-6 weeks, (they say it takes 21 days to break a habit) I started to notice a difference after a week. I did it consistently not only was it totally relaxing but it really did change my eating habits. She also has others for other things, even a guided meditation for relaxation. I really can't say enough about it!! and you get to do it right in the comfort of your own home much less expensive I am sure too.

Yoga is a really great way to ease into meditation and get some of the results you're looking for. They usually incorporate a bit of "self awareness" at the end that is very calming. Regular practice really does help with stress and being more mindful. I'm currently reading "Meditation for the Love of it- Enjoying your own deepest experience" by Sally Kempton. Very good read so far. Think it will help me with meditation practice.

If you have an ipod you can get them right at the itunes store, or amazon.com, you can probably get them elsewhere on the internet as well
