I recently added iMapMyRun app and saw that I can use a heart rate monitor with my iPhone. Has anyone used this? I was curious if it is wireless or not and how well it works. Thanks!

My wife uses hers and I use my HRM watch. When she used my watch / w chest strap it was within about 100 calories of being the same burn for the same distance.

    If that helps at all

I use the iphone app called runtastic pro and it maps my runs as well as providing incredible stats and a good playlist function. To get my Polar HRM to work with the iphone, I needed to add this:

    http://www.60beat.com/60beat-Heart-Rate-RX-Reciever/dp/B0047EE4TS

Works great for the trend tracking, but I still trust my Polar a lot more for accuracy...I do like the feature where it tells me in my headphones (over my play list) what zone of training I am in and how my miles I have run with telling me the lap times (spoken through my headphones, though it must be wired headphones only).

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Drew. I looked a little more at the hardware and the apps that i was looking at. I think the HRM chest strap was Wahoo brand and the app didn't have great reviews, like it wouldn't run in the background and some other stuff. So I'll look at Runtastic pro. I guess if it doesn't work like I want, then I can always just get the Polar receiver. That was my first choice anyway, but I thought the iphone would be a good option so I didn't end up with my phone and another device just to go run.
    Thanks again.
