Ok, so I've been working hard at trying to lose weight. My dilemma is, none of my summer stuff fits from last year:( I'm kinda stubborn right now to spend money on new summer clothes because I have a closet of stuff I want to fit into. I have gym shorts and stuff that fit, but no jean shorts or capris, and shirts look bad on me. Would you spulrge for some new stuff, or suffer for the summer?

I just went through this. I bought a couple of new things but nothing I spent a ton of money on. I went to Marshall's and TJ Maxx (do you have them near you?) and picked up some pants that fit without breaking the bank. My next stop will be Target for some shorts. I am buying cheap until I lose more weight!

Last summer I hit up the consignment stores. Found some sweet capris and thank god my stretchy shorts still somewhat worked

I'm planning to hit the thrift stores (we have about a dozen amazing thrift shops around here), and maybe the outlet mall. Marshalls'/TJ Maxx is a good suggestion too. I definitely am not going to invest a lot of money on the "in between" clothes, but I'm going to get at least some staples to carry me through. My jeans are starting to sag and I'm going to have to size down soon, or they'll be falling off. (Not complaining!!! LOL)

I'm going to save up and splurge when I hit my goal size!

Target is great and so is Kohl's... I will only buy things on sale or with a discount card.

  • I started my weight loss journey when I was in beauty school. I lost quit a bit so I would buy some stuff at Walmart and old navy cuz I was loosing so fast. I would like buy one pair of cute pants and then go to Walmart or ON and get a bunch of those tank tops and spend the money on accessories and sunglasses and handbags.. A few pair of sandals .. They don't care what size clothes u wear ;)..
I'm trying to loose another 45pounds and go back to work in July I'm gonna have the same issue once again.
It's the opposite u but still the same problem nothing to wear sucks lol..
Maybe splurge on a pair of cute capris that you love an wear the crap out of them. Mix up the jewelry and hairstyles so I feel good about your self. And when u do buy stuff. I like to get stuff that is a little snug so u can get good use from it.
    Good luck Erica

I really love the trhift stores - you would be amazed the stuff you can find there. Coldwater Creek, Talbots, lots of great labels. Some of the thrift/resale stores now have fitting rooms too. Why pay full price when you can get incredible bargains? It's like a sport - how much can I get for my $$$.....Happy thrifting.

hit goodwill, and other thrift stores... garage sales too. You'd be amazed at the nice things you can find. I know, some pple don't like to wear used things, so if you're one of those, I'd suggest maybe walmart, or somethin cheap like that.

I need to buy new clothes to keep myself motivated. I look so much better in clothes that fit well that I want to keep losing. I am just careful about cost. I shop lower cost stores like Target, Kohls and Fashion Bug but still only buy things on sale, clearance and with coupons. If I find a really good deal I will buy a size smaller than I am and hold onto it. I wore a pair of pants today I got 70% off on clearance but they didn't quite fit and a shirt on special for $10 so the whole new outfit cost me $25 and looked great on me. Neither fit when I first bought them so not only did I get a great deal its extra motivation to fit into them. I haven't checked into consignment stores yet because I assumed most don't have plus size but I think I am going to check into that. I have gone down 4 sizes already, so I am only buying a few items at each size.
