net calories per week- HELP!

okay, so i don't have to say this but i will: sticking to exercise and diet on the weekend is TOUGH! i like to indulge a little bit- go out to dinner, have a few drinks, relax.
that being said, my calories for the weekend are HORRIBLE. i used to not even bother recording my food and exercise, but this weekend i was curious. turns out i've been consuming almost double the daily calorie intake at least one day of the week.
during the week, however, i'm super conscious. i document everything, from creamer in my coffee to mustard on my sandwich, and exercise is a MUST during the week. i walk/jog (MOSTLY jog) more than 3 miles and do a moderate set of calisthenics before bed. i was doing this 3 days a week, but now i'm increasing that to at least 4.

the point is-- i'm usually under (sometimes WAY under) my calorie intake during the week when i exercise, and then on the weekends i'm over. i was thinking (hoping) that the net calories for the week would balance out and i would lose weight. i'm not-- at least, i haven't yet and it's been 3 weeks.

i just want to know if the weekly net is the same as the daily net (and just as effective), or am i putting my body through a binge/purge and unable to lose the weight? or, should i just stick it out and see...

HELP, please!

I think you answered your own question. Its not working for you! Perhaps you could try allowing yourself one indulgence day instead of two and see how that goes if you're determined to let loose one a regular basis. Good luck!

Agreed, if it's been three weeks and you're not losing then it is obviously not working. Do you weigh yourself daily or just weekly? I might suggest a daily weigh in this week (first thing when you wake up after peeing and nude or in skivvies) to see if you're losing on a daily basis and then gaining it all back over the weekend. If that is what's happening, then you'll know it's time to adjust your routine.

    thanks for the advice!
i will weight myself every morning and see, and i think you're probably right-- i did answer my own question.
i have resolved to be more conscious of my indulging days, and at least get a workout in there somehow-- earn the reward.

though, if someone works off of weekly net calories, i would really love to hear about it!
