Will my diet program help me reach my goal?

Hi, I've been using MFP for about 1 week now. I am 16 years old (17 in August), 4'10 and my beginning weight was around 98 lbs (according to my doctor's scale). After doing my exercise routine, where I run down a hill but walk up a hill for approx. 3.6 miles and eating about an average of 900 calories per day, my weight dropped to about 96-95 lbs (can't tell if my own scale is lying to me or not..haha). Whenever I click "complete this entry" it says that I'm eating under the 1200 ideal intake. But, since I'm much shorter than most average Americans, should I be worrying about this? I'm afraid that I won't lose weight since my body "will" hypothetically go into starvation mode and that it will be harder for me to lose weight.

What is your ideal weight? I would think that you are already at the bottom of your weight range for your height.

I would strongly suggest that you visit your doctor or try to set up an appointment with a dietitian and work with them to come up with a diet program. Your needs as a 16 year old are different than most people on this site who are fully grown adults. You are still growing, and you're going to want to make sure you're giving your body everything it needs to develop in a healthy manner.

This is pretty much what I was going to say. What I've looked up on how much calories kids need (trying to figure out for my own daughter) shows that growing adolescence need more calories than adults that are done growing. 900 calories is not enough for you. I would be talking with your doctor before you decide on trying to lose weight.
