Hi all :flowerforyou:
Im going camping over the weekend with the womans football team
I dont know what to take to eat
They told me they would be a tesco there but I want to take some healthy foods,
So far ive thought of apples, bananas... that will stay quite fresh for the whole weekend, but for main healthy meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner??
Please help, I dont want to ruin my healthy eating or have a weekend off because ive only just got over my plateau
Thanks you

Will you have some kind of stove to boil water? Because I know Quaker do pots of oatmeal that you just need to add boiling water to... make a good breakfast.0

well that really depends, are you just gonna be setting up a camp, or do you need to hike to get to your campsite? Are you gonna need to build a cooking fire, or will you have barbecues/camp stoves? etc0

I'm also going camping this weekend. We're going to have a cooler, a cooking pot and a bbq at our disposal, and there's a place at the camp site to get ice, so I don't have to worry so much about things spoiling. My food list is apples, mangoes, avocados, cucumbers, celery, carrots, green beans, brown rice, turkey hot dogs, veggie burgers, oatmeal and eggs. Hope that helps!0

Im going camping here soon too and have done some brainstorming on what Im going to bring. Heres what Ive decided on...
Turkey Cheddar Bratwursts
Frozen Chicken Breasts (if theyre frozen Im hoping that they will just thaw slowly over a couple days in the cooler and stay good over that time)
Kashi Bars for breakfast and snacks
Fresh veggies ie cucumbers avocados
Almonds and other nuts
Pita Chips
Peanut Butter
Apples
Bananas
100 Calorie snacks
Im not sure if we will have a cooking pot but oatmeal sounds like a great idea!0 -
I definitely agree that what you takes depends on if you have a campstove & cooking pit.
My family normally brings oatmeal, granola bars, veggies [carrots, celery, broccoli and snow peas hold up well in a cooler but I've had problems with lettuces], bread, peanut butter, nuts, crackers, eggs, etc. We definitely try for food that can be used in multiple ways [peanut butter for sandwiches, with veggies and crackers, added to oatmeal; bread for sandwiches and for french toast, etc.]
If you are at a campsite, chicken or turkey sausage are great on the grill and so is fish.0 -
I would take tins of salad beans, tuna, a bottle of your favourite dressing, even the smallest tesco will have fresh fruit and salad vegetables.
Take the more unusual stuff that you think you may miss0 -
Thank you very much for the advice, Im unsure if they will be ice or cold water, I might just take fruit and buy salad stuff from the tesco, take advocados tuna etc, and a little lunch box, knife and fork and I should be fine, thank you v much for your advice xxx0
