ADHD

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD. I have always had a hard time staying on track and was definitely an impulsive eater. I am wondering if anyone with ADHD has noticed any changes in their eating habits/weight loss since starting medication. (I am just starting Strattera.) I don't mean from the side effects, (loss of appetite, etc.), I am more so talking about with impulsive eating, or finding it easier to stay on track.
Any advice would be appreciated.

It's hard for me to comment on impulsive eating because the loss of appetite was so severe that even if I had still be impulsive, it wouldn't have been with eating! Maybe Strattera will help you stay on track with logging, which should help with impulse eating.0

Hi,
My boyfriend has ADHD too, he takes concerta, and the day he doesn't takes his pills (on the weekend), he is an impulsive eater! He could eat the whole fridge! But when he takes them, he eat only what his body "needs". He is not on a diet but, he watches what he eat (he makes sure he is really hungry) and he lost more weight than me!!!!! So if you are careful and think twicw before eating something, you should lose weight.
Good luck:flowerforyou:1 -
the only expierence I have is my 14 year old. He is on Metadate and he sometimes is just not hungey at all. As a growing boy he was lucky as he could eat a pound of pasta and not gain an ounce... He is 6 foot and weighs 165... He knows the meds decrease his appetite and he just tries to eat even just a little. We also make him protein/smoothy drinks as he is lifting weights. I would say try to eat 6 small meals as this would also help speed up your metabolism.... Good luck..1

thanks for the replies. i took my first pill today and started filling dizzy and nausea soon after. i eventually threw up about half an hour later. usually by lunch time i am good and starving but i have absolutely no desire to eat. i always say it would be great to not have an appetite but really that is just for snacks etc. i wish i felt like eating a meal right now!! going to have to force it down and hope it stays there! lol1
