30 Day Shred - Level 2....a vent

I'm on vacation this week...and I couldn't be more excited. Not to be off work but because I just started Level 2 on Saturday and now I have all day to fit in 30DS....because I really, really, really HATE Level 2.

Does anyone else feel this sentiment? I mean, Level 1 was tough but I was starting out from nothing. It got easier, but Level 2 is killing my body. I hurt and it doesn't seem to be just muscular changes. I have to modify about everything it seems. I find myself even changing the cardio. I just HATE this level. It's not that it's just a physical challenge, I just don't like the routine at all. And how many damn planks ARE THERE in this level? Does it get better at all? I just find this level so...UGH!

I've heard that 2 was the worst. And I'm glad than when vacation is over, so will this dang level.

Just had to vent that.....and with that, I'm off to do Day 4 of Level 2. Ugh.

Your not alone. I loathe level two. I love level three though. Im starting over after getting sick for two weeks. Figured it would be safer to restart

level 2 was my most favorite of the bunch. Why? Once I pushed through and accomplished it, I felt good. So, hang in there, push through and know that we support you 100%!

Ok! I hate hate hate level 2! The routine is just brutal! i go to a bootcamp class that is put on by a crossfit group and I most of the workouts aren't as bad! Some are but at least there are not as many planks. Keep up the good work, I just got back "on" the workout wagon after a 3 month hiatus. So I am here to get some inspiration.

I did level two yesterday for the first time. I was modifying it up most of the time and it didnt help that i was playing baseball on Sunday for the first time in years and it killed me. so i am still recovering from that soreness. i am always sore now. maybe i should just stick to one thing so my body gets used to it. :S i am going to try to do it again today I hope i can do better than yesterday. I might have to take more than one day off a week with this level.

I dislike level 2 also. I've completed the 30 shred some time ago, but I still do it at least 4 days a week. I usually do only level 2 and 3 now. Monday and Wed I do level 2, Tuesday and Thur level 3. I would MUCH rather do level three because I think it's "easier".

I loathe level 2 as well. Some of the movements just feel so harsh and unnatural. Or maybe I'm just that out of shape. :frown: I quit after level 2 last time, but not this time!

I've got shoulder issues (pinched nerve in my neck) and I'm really worried about L2. I started it yesterday. Didn't do it this morning and I'm a bit sore still. I'm going to try to just suck it up and get through it. Then it's over and I can think to myself that it's a small accomplishment.

I don't like level 2 either. I find that I typically do a modified (harder) version for Level 1 and I do Level 3 a fair amount, too.

I agree, level 2 is tough. Quite a few of the exercises require good balance (like the one where you stand on one leg and raise the weights over your head), and it's not easy. Oh, and the squats with the V-raise KILL me! I also did the modified version of most of the exercises. Just stick with it, you'll probably find that level 3 is not as bad.

I just finished...another day DONE. Thank you Jesus.

I'm glad I'm not the only one hating it!

While I was doing it (trying my best to do it that is), I thought of the WHY specifically I don't like it.

Level one seemed more about legs. My legs killed. But my legs are my strongest muscles. So I adapted easier. Level 2 seems more about arms (planks in strength, planks in cardio, planks in abs) and especially SHOULDERS. Well I don't have the best upper bod muscles so they are harder than hard for me. The last set where you do the arm raises, then the V raises followed by a plank cardio? SHRED alright...shreds my shoulders. I do a leg lift instead of a kick. I'm trying to focus more on my arm strength than legs. After the first 2 of that set, I can't even hold a plank let alone do cardio with it. And I'm using a measly 3 lbs to do those!! I better be posting a huge apology to Jillian after Day 30 that I have amazing shoulders!!!

The oblique twists kill my lower back so I've just substituted jump rope, jogging in place etc. I'm not so concerned about the cardio segments as I still am running on treadmill for cardio daily.

    Hurry up Day 21!!!
  • im bringing this thread up again to say that i did level 2 once and OH MY GOD IT IS HORRIBLE. HORRRRRIBLE. level 1 is a breeze and then i start level 2 and it starts off so easy.. so benign and then BAM, im in a pile on the floor in a puddle of my own sweat and cursing ole JM for making me the ghost i was after that.

i have to do it again tomorrow. this is going to be the longest 9 days of my life.

Haha! First time I did them shred, I could have written this post for all the reasons mentioned! Hated L2, I think it was because I was struggling with the form on some of the moves that I didn't think I was getting a good workout. Also disliked the v raises.

Am nearly completing L3 for the 2nd time through, and although I was glad when I completed L2 ths time round, I didn't detest it. I still modified the v raises - not using my weights, and I found I needed a lot of 5 sec breaks to catch my breath and my heart rate was constantly up ( not like in L1).

L3 is still my favourite though, and my plank is so much stronger this time through- stick at it, I felt an amazing sense of achievement the first time I completed the 30 days
  • level 2 day 4 today.. i hate level 2.. i can't do a dam plank it hurts my back.. i have always been a weak planker.. i have done many classes in my gym time and did not like many but this one is at the top of the list..

idk if i hate it more so because i still haven't seen any results, scale or measurements. i feel like i'm wasting my time, i;'m obviously not wasting my time because i'm being physically active but i just feel like maybe this program isn't the right one..

even though you all hated level 2 did you finish and did you see results? i plan on finishing, hell i'm about half way there and it can't hurt to finish.. just wondering if i'm the only hater who hasn't gotten results..

I am Just starting to see results and today will be day 7 of level 2 for me. At first all I was doing was gaining weight and just in the last 2 days that weight fell off and I am .4 below where I started. Level 2 and I are not friends to say the least MUCH harder than level 1.
