I am a bigger girl looking for a good toning and fitness program. I have heard about Insanity, p90X and 30 day shread. Which of these is best for larger sized people. I would like to work on strength training to tone along with continuing to do my cardio for fat burn and weight loss.

Looking for tips!

I have only done shred, but the way I understand it, shred is a bit easier then p90x and insanity. That's why I started with shred, and then I'm going to try to work my way up. There is an easier option on shred and it's lower impact. You could do it and then once you're done, you could try to start over with the harder option. Good luck!! Oh and I've completed shred, but I do all three levels once per week. So, I do level 1 mon, level 2 wed, and level 3 fri. Just to keep my toning and sculpting I gained.
  • Just a note to add that strength training does still help with fat reduction :) I'm a big fan so thought I'd share!

I'm also interested in hearing more about these programmes

Im currently doing P90x lean (because i dont want big muscles), and it seems to be going ok for me.. Im on the second week..
But i saw this success post for the 30 day shred, and wow you get amazing results in a third of the time as P90x.
    So im currently doing both...
I do my P90x in the morning and my 30 day shred workout at night..
although i wouldnt do insanity because i dont want to be ripped.. just slim and toned..
But i think you should do wich ever one you think is going to gibe you the results closer to how you want to look!

Insanity for awesome cardio, and P90X for toning and building muscle. IMO the shred is a good way to start but it won't' be enough to get you to your goals. I just don't think it's a great workout, but that's my opinion. Many people here swear by it.
  • they're all great...for different reasons:
*P90X is pretty hard, builds more muscle, almost seems more male-oriented (bulk up more than tone & tighten)
*Insanity is amazing for building your endurance, it's VERY hard to do, but you can take breaks when you need and it's got a good variety of workouts (plus Shaun T is a good motivator)
*30 Day Shred seems geared more towards women, they show you easier versions of the moves for beginners, Jillian emphasises correct form, and the workouts are only 25 minutes! (there are 3 workouts so you can do more than one at a time for a longer workout)
    hope this helps :)
