TREADMILL WARNING!!! Parent please read!!

As I got my treadmill back up and running, I am reminded of the 2009 tragedy of 4 year old Exodus Tyson (Mike Tyson's Daughter) who was found hanging with the treadmill cord around her neck.
This was so tragic. Let's all learn from this and be more aware with our children around hanging cords, not just from treadmills, but mini blinds, and robe belts, and anything else that kids can get caught up in or can wrap around their necks (in dangerous play).
Parents, if you have a treadmill, make sure to unplug it when not in use and make sure to remove that emergency pull cord when not in use as well. I hide mine on a top shelf in my closet...
RIP Litlle Exodus Tyson.

This is a very good post. I always remove my treadmill plug and place it on the shelf above the fireplace, and unplug it.0

As a mother of a litlle 4 yr old monster, this really touches home with me. My boy has gotten it into his head that it's okay for him to plug stuff into the electrical outlets...SCARY!! We have outlet protectors on all of the outlets but he knows how to take them off. Things can just happen so fast!
My sister's boyfriend's coworker lost a child last weekend due to heat exhaustion. The 3 yr old got into a hot car in Texas to play.
Thanks for the post....this is a reminder to keep an eye on our most precious people at all times!0 -

They now make outlet covers that you just replace the whole plate and you have to be stronger to slide them over to plug anything into them. It's totally worth a couple dollars to not have to do CPR on your baby... Makes me wanna cry as I type it.0 -
great post! I got rid of mine before my son started walking.. I miss my treadmill sometimes but SAFETY first! we had no room to move it, so we couldn't keep it.0

I did the same thing then my BF got me a new one for our new home. He's so supportive, especially for a skinny guy. I love it, but everytime I see that cord, I think of this scenario. It is such an easy thing to overlook; especially when adults don't usually think of putting things like that around our necks, we forget that kids do.0

I hope this one sinks in to one parent out there, it looks as though it has.0
