Does anybody else get grumpy? What are some ways to prevent

HI Guys,
This may be an obvious question....
but does anybody else get grumpy when they start to get hungry? What causes this? Is it a mental block? or is there a chemical/body-reaction reason to this? I've just started back on my diet the last two days, and I'm trying really hard not to be too grumpy (but I can feel it on the edges of my emotions).

I'm just curious...I'm assuming that a healthy light snack may help to ease the grumpiness....but I did not want to assume too much. :-)

Probably caused by a blood sugar drop... hypoglycemia style. Eat more snacks :)

Yep, I do. I was 'insulin resistant' and certain foods caused my blood sugar to spike and then plummet and on either end of that spectrum, I was a tad grouchy. Now that things are more even, I'm usually only grouchy when someone gives me ample reason to be! ;o)

LOL Sounds good. I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I just need to wait for my body to get used to the new routines.

Interesting. I am also diagnosed with hypo-glycemia and experience the same thing.

Are there certain foods that are good to have on hand to stabilize the blood sugar when this happens?

I get grumpy. No other reason then I'm hungry. I'm fine once I eat, but if I have to wait for dinner to cook, I am not a happy guy. I don't know if it gets better. Probably, as I get use to feeling hungry again. The problem that I have is if I don't eat then I start to lose focus. I had a physical recently and the doctor said I'm fine. So I think it's just because I usually ate when I was hungry. Now I am alittle more disciplined. Which means I can't eat all the time whenever I'm hungry. But this is a good thing.

Eating foods that have a low impact on your glycemic index is usually suggested. I try to stay away from a lot of high-sugar foods like oranges and eat lower ones like berries :) there are tons of websites out there with lists of low impact foods :) Think high fiber, low sugar ;) also, I have gotten grumpy when hungry my whole life. I am a terrible person if I am not fed. Have to carry almonds around with me where ever I go for this exact reason!
