I've only been on this site for almost 2 weeks (joined on June 2, 2011) and I've already lost 6 lbs. Even with having gone over my calorie goal 3 days last week. It's not easy sticking to the calorie goal for the day, but I do try. And if I go over, I don't beat myself up... anymore... I just try to do better the next day.
I'm finding it is easier to stay within my calorie goal if I plan out the whole day's meals ahead of time and document it, rather than just documenting what you eat as you go. In doing so, I have been able to be under my goal by quite a bit... almost 1/3. Hope this might help someone else.

I agree - planning (and tracking) my day BEFORE I eat it is one of the most effective things I've done to stay on track. It helps me to know ahead of time if I can have the extra something (sour cream, butter, cheese, etc) or not, and if I REALLY want it, I can re-structure things in order to be able to eat it.0
