I don't know what my deal is, but I've been having a hard time with getting in my calories. It's not that I don't have the right foods or that I'm not hungry, but I suppose I find myself not trusting calorie contents or serving sizes. So I over-count, under-eat, and hoard my calories all day long fearing a night time binge. Of course I won't let myself binge, because I'll hardly let myself eat over 400 calories at any given time.. has anyone else experienced this? I just have this overwhelming feeling of self-sabotage.. like I'm subconsciously going to mess this all up for myself. 7pm here in ny.. half of my calories remain.. yet still in my head I feel like I've gone over for the day. Funny, I used to eat anything&everything without a care, now I'm stressing over portion sizes & nutrition facts, pretty much convinced that I'm going to somehow unknowingly blow all my calories. I think part of the problem is I feel like I'm eating a ton because instead of the garbage I used to fuel my body with I now eat low fat low calorie across the board (with very few exceptions) and it just feels like SO MUCH...

It's really frustrating to begin with! For almost everyone! Try planning the entire day out. Every meal and every snack! That way, you know your ok. Also if you're not feeling comfortable about serving sizes invest in a kitchen scale.0

More than enough calories at 1500 and super high in protein and water. I would be careful of both. I do high protein 80 - 100 grams per day but 195 is really high and 18 glasses of water would fill anyone up. You can drink too much water.
I would talk to a nutritionist before continuing on your current path, too much of anything can be bad.
Best of Luck!0 -
it sounds as if you are letting this take over your life. it took over mine.
You need to make yourself take a couple of days off - still track, but track roughly. Remember that in the long run, this is your life NOW.... don't put it on hold for when you're at your "goal" weight!0 -
Not crazy at all, you've made a big change and it takes a while to adjust your way of thinking.
You're being so hard on yourself, just keep telling yourself that you have planned for this food, you DO know what you're doing, and yes it will be okay.0 -
yep-- I just HATE HATE HATE to see that cal left number go down. (kinda like my checkbook-so I tend to want to hoard my cals) I need to do better. I think I am more likely to eat more spread out if I exercise early- then I am not worried I know what I have but I am scared to eat and then find out that I dont get to exercise and I am OVER ---ugh
As far as being full- yep you are eating better and your choices are more fueling so more filling but remember- your body will not appreciate starvation mode. I have some great organic and natural protein bars- not to filling- but about 160 cals with lots of fiber and protein that I use for when I am to low and not hungry-- I also like protien shakes same reason-- I need protein to build muscles and it is calorie dense usually so I am not "stuffing" myself but not "starving" myself either
this is all information-- from my own humble experience
Good luck to you!!0 -
I feel the same way alot of days, Im so worried about going over, But as I get more used to how many calories things are and trying to plan my day some (at least figureing outwhats for dinner in the morning) it is getting easier. Just make sure you eat enough, so it doesnt effect your health!0

I'm kinda the same way, but have quickly realized that if I don't eat my cals, I'm basically good for nothing the next day and/or couple of days. I always hoard a few cals cuz I usually have fairly large dinners, but it all works out in the end. Up the calls for a few weeks and see what happens... or not!0

I feel the same way. God, do I!! I'd say that you should get some help for these issues before it turns into a full-on eating disorder.0

You may want to adjust your goals a little. Increase your daily protein goal and decrease your carbs. That being said I agree with a previous post the amount of protein your eating is amazingly high! I reset mine to a higher level (many people agree the standard protein setting here is too low) and my goal is 105. As far as your water is concerned.....you would have to drink about 4 or 5 gallons of water within a few hours to make it bad for you. If you're drinking more than 4 gallons of water daily you might cut back. Other wise it's really hard to overdo water!!!0

I know exactly how you feel !! I've only eaten 331 calories for breakfast and lunch, exercised 340 calories now i am left with 1218!! I am not going to eat that for snack and dinner!! But actually if i minus my exercise calories from that then I actually have 878 to eat for dinner and snacks...
I am going to be way under my goal of 1200 calories.0 -
I don't think my protein count is accurate - right now I don't have a food scale so I overestimate when I eat chicken breast.. and at 9g/oz that can throw off the protein # a bit.. thanks all I'm feeling the support truly I am.. just gotta get out of this funk!0

I noticed the chicken you're adding shows a pretty high sodium level too. Is this precooked chicken or are you cooking it at home?0

I know exactly how you feel. You hate to see that number go down. You feel better if you have left over calories. I am in the same place and fight it every day. I was eating below 1200 every day -and guess what? I stopped losing weight. I have made a conscious decision to start eating everything - even going over some days. And I lost 2 lbs last week.
My issue is I dont exercies until I get home from work around 6ish. So at 7 i have all these extra calories to eat. I should be planning my day better, but I keep thinking - OMG what if something happens and I cant exercise tonight then I am over my cals or only have 200 left for dinner....so stressful.
Time to take a step back. If your goal is weight loss, you are not helping yourself. If your goal is better health, you are not helping yourself. Easier said than done, but you just have to fight the urge to hoard those cals!0 -
I cook it at home, plain with a little garlic&onion powder on the grill..0

Be carefull, you are trading an addiction for another. This is not healthy. Eat, feed your body before you damage it,0

Sounds like it might be time to back off for a few days. Bump up to maintenance for a few days and make an effort to go heavy on protein. A handfull of nuts or trail mix that has dried fruit usually does the trick to get the extra calories in. Get your mind off the counting and concentrate on the healthy aspect. Explore some new foods. Check out a new restaurant. Snoop through your friends food diaries. Get off the counting obsession and enjoy your life. Shake it off and come back with a fresh outlook.0

When your choosing a food to add from the database, make sure you check the nutrition values. A lot of the foods are added by other members and they may be counting seasonings, marinades, and such. You're not adding salt, and chicken doesn't naturally have any sodium!0
