I am sooooo upset right now. I have an 8 year ol, lame, lab, and for the third time the neighbors dogs (2 of them) have attacked my dog!!!! Attack meaning, they come at her full speed and wrestle her down and bite at her. I live in the country and there aren't any ordinances per say pertaining to dogs-but god help me if it happens again, who knows what will happen to those b****! UGGGGHHH What really really freaks me out is i have a toddler, and I want him to be safe-I will be talking to the neighbors-just wanted to vent-thanks all...

I feel you! I take my dog to the dog park and when some dog picks on him and will basically not let him run around - pins him and nips and snaps whenever he tries to get up - people try and say the dogs will work it out except I take my dog there to exercise, not lay on the ground wide-eyed and terrified with his neck covered in the other dog's slobber for 20 minutes... jerk owners, that's what we've got! D*** bully dogs!

Thanks Jules. I guess what scares me is the pack mentality of dogs, it is 2 against one, and they seem soooo viscious, plus she is sorta lame in one leg even after we spent alot of money for surgery to reattach her tendons, any extra stress on the leg and pop goes the tendons. She ran off for now, i can't find her-i hope she is ok...

I think you need to report it to the police even if there isn't an ordinance as you say. It's still a dangerous situation espcially since you have a toddler. :explode:

If she's in the country, reporting them will do no good. I say take a shotgun or a nice bowl of antifreeze to 'em-- if they come near your pooch again.

I would call the police and tell them you are afraid for your child -- they won't come for your dog but if they think your child is in trouble they will at least talk to the owners -- If that doesn't work tell the owners you are setting out bear traps and will not be held responsable if thier dog gets stuck in one-- and then put out the traps! Just long enough for them to understand that you are serious!

I'd report it to the police and talk to them about your childs safety. Those dogs need to be tied at all times...that's SOOO dangerous!

Can you get your dog a nice big fenced in area?
I know those things can be very costly though =o(
So sorry that this happened, I hope your dog is okay!

I know you were joking, but have you thought about buying some kind of spray.....or even making a spray....that would not hurt them, but bother them enough to run off? Enough squirts in the face and maybe they will not come around anymore.
  • There is a commercial pepper spray. It is designed for runners and cyclists. You may want to check out your local sporting goods store.

Regardless of ordinances or not...report it. If the police won't listen, contact animal control. If they won't listen, contact your local humane society. You and your family should not have to tolerate "rogue" dogs.
