When I get back from the gym...

...and haven't eaten my next meal but I am definitely due for it is it best to have a protein shake or eat the meal?
For example: tonight I got off work at 6:30, got home at 7:00 so I hadn't eaten dinner nor gone to the gym. I ate my banana, went to the gym and got back around 8:30 very hungry (I had my Special K bar on my ride home though) and I'd burned 500 calories. I decided to make dinner instead of having the Special K protein shake because I wanted to have a meal and didn't want to eat too much.

Nothing wrong with eating the meal, but I would make sure its a high protein meal, that's just me though0

- Most protien drinks are high in carbs so it was probably the better option to eat a meal low in carbs that late in the evening.0

I usually do the same thing. I go to the gym after work and by the time I get home, I'm starving. I'll have a high protein snack while I'm making dinner (as I have to bike home from the gym) but I usually eat dinner instead of a protein shake. Instead, I have a protein shake for lunch or a couple hours before the gym.0
