I went to the Dr. because I was becoming discouraged and concerned that I was not loosing weight. In the past I have done a lot less and more results then right now. He put me on a diebetic medication called Met formin. I am not diebetic but my sugar is elevated and since diebetes runs in the family he think I am not processing my sugars right. My thyroid and everything else checked out just fine so I said lets try it. He also suggested that I get a copper IUD. I am not sure I like the idea of this, if you have one let me know your opinion. My food diary is open, I know I can do things differently there so food suggestions they are welcomed. Recipes or types of food would be more helpful then the "you shouldnt eat that" remark I know I need to make changes. Thanks

Hi, have a condition called PCOS which essentially is caused by insulin resistance. When I was diagnosed in 2006 I was discouraged and not dieting at all. In fact, I wouldn't even weigh myself b/c it was so discouraging. I weighed 265. I started on it in Feb 2006 and in September 2006 (after being on it for six months) I had a medical procedure at the hospital. When they weighed me I was 245. I had lost 20 lbs just by taking the metformin and it helping my body utilize insulin more efficiently. I am not diabetic either. But for me, it makes me feel better (more energy) and it has helped me with carb cravings.

one side note, it can cause some diahrea(sp?) so be prepared. But I'm used to it now.

now just to let you know this is my personal opinion...... you might not agree but I'm sure you are open minded or you wouldn't have posted in the first place.

I had a peek at your diary, and I noticed you have a lot of convience foods (prepared/packaged). I have tried to get away from those kinds of foods and tried to make more "not" processed meals. I have read in different magazines that diet food isn't really that good for you and that they have so many different things added to them that trick your body into thinking its full, but then the "need nutrient" side of your brain triggers you into "needing food" mode again. If you are having problems with your sugar, read up or search more info about fake sugar and diebetes. Not completely sure, but i remember hearing something about it not being good....Both of my inlaws are diebetic.

Protien is supose to keep you fuller longer, right? So here are some of my suggestions: try an egg white omlette (i use 4 egg whites) with lots of veggies in the morning, egg whites have less calories compared to eating the whole egg. You can buy just egg whites in the cartton, easier convience.
Another one is to change from regular yogurt to greek, it has 3x the amount of protien.
One of my favorite suggestions came from my best friend, she found something on Dr. Oz website about snacking on nuts (almonds, walnuts, pstachios) yes I know they are high in fat....but its a good fat that our bodies need, and its not like you are going to eat a whole pound.
Hummus is really good with veggies, takes longer to digest so makes you feel full longer.
Try to have fresh fruits too, i know it will effect your sugar levels, but i did a seach for fruits that are lower in sugar, and it gave me lots to choose from.

    Have a great day!
