I wanted some thoughts on Curves.. my daughter Ashley and I want to join a gym together.. now since she's only 16 years old not a lot of gyms here will accept her but I just called Curves and she can go there...

I'm just wondering if there's any success stories here with Curves?? I'm looking to loose about 20-25lbs and of course it sounds good to only have to workout 30 minutes at a time but I'm wondering if you actually loose weight..

Oh and they do have the new Zumba at the Curves that I want to join :)

Any comments??

A coworker of mine has had great success with going to Curves. Like anything, eat a healthy diet and you'll be good to go.
  • Curves is great! I don't currently go there but I use to. It makes you work hard and it's nice to get your workout done in 30 min.

I tried curves a few years ago and I personally couldnt stick to it. I got bored easily and found myself just not going. From what I hear, they have changed a bit since then so maybe you should check it out?

Curves is down right boring. it's Full of ladies over 60. The work out is to easy. The old ladies chat with each other but then the younger ones are left out. Going in a circle gets very Boring, and there is nothing to concerate on.
What i found Stupid. You have to pay a membership fee of 150? then another 56 or something bucks a month and if you stop going for like 3 months and want to rejoin they want that membership fee all over again.
THe gym Im at now only wants 30 bucks a month. No extra membership fee

I used Curves in 2008 and lost 70lbs. I loved it because I had somewhere that would weigh and measure me and that motivated me. You don't really have to think about what you are going to do, you just move around the circuit.

I loved knowing I only had to be there 30 minutes.

I loved the thing you wore on your wrist to log your calories burned (can't remember what it is called).

I loved seeing my inches lost move around the room (on a star).

I stopped going after a year because I thought I was bored and ready to move on to a more "serious" workout, but honestly I am thinking about going back. I have gained 10 lbs back going to a conventional gym! Only problem is in my area, it is double the cost of the gym I am kinda going to. They did not have Zumba in 2008. Try it for a year and see how you do.
