Hi, My name is Melissa and im 33 years old, 5'2" and 110# over weight according to the doctors. I have like many always been active. In high school i was part of Dance performance, power lifting team and Novice Boys BMX racer. i also loved to play volley ball. in college i played volley ball and regularly was at the gym. when i was out of college i stayed active by running and going to the gym even after my son was born i stayed active. I have never been a tiny girl but always the athletic type muscular and i hope to regain that muscular body back, but im not here just for asthetics im here to feel better. about 4 years ago my health got worse, I have had polysitic kidney disease with no complication and still not complications but i have developed High blood pressure and cholestoral (all being controlled by medication and better) plantar faciatis, severe back pain, sleep apnea, anxiety and depression. All of which im positive are atribuited to me being severlly over weight. I am here today because im tired of being sick and tired, im tired of not being able to play games with my son, tie my shoes with out being winded in less than 5 minutes, im tired of telling my son i cannot do something cause im tired or i dont feel well enough to do it. i want to start living life instead of watching it and i want to live longer than my parents because i know what its like to be a child and lose your parents to disease and illness. I want to be healthy enough for a kidney transplant when the time comes cause at this rate they will not consider me because of my weight. I m done being sick and tired!

I can relate to some of this. I was 195 at my max and have been as low as 142. I'm tackling this before all the lost weight comes back. I got to the 195 while dealing with severe back pain, to the point of not being able to walk. After 5 years of pain meds and all the eating to curb the nausea, I finally had back surgery. I got to the lowest about 2 yrs after that one. Sorry to say my plantar fascitis is still a problem, but getting a Birkenstock insole to put in my tennis shoes reduced the pain to only when I've worked out too much. You might give it a try. I can go on the eliptical for 45 min w/o too much foot pain.
My major problem is that I eat too much, mostly to numb emotional stuff. So I hope to chat on here with others to support each other INSTEAD OF EATING. It takes two hands to type

Congrats on making the decision to do something proactive. I hope this works out for you. I'm here for myself first and foremost but also so that I can enjoy a life with my son and not have him miss out on anything because of me. Feel free to add me. We can support each other when we need it!!0
