Comfort Food NSV

You know that saying that so many of us have heard..."Nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels." Well, that sounds like it should be right...but for me, that is a false statement.
There are many foods that taste better than skinny feels, and this is why I have been up and down in weight for so many years. Under stress, upset, or whatever feeling is crying for reassurance, there really are foods that make me feel better. It's more than psychological...whatever the foods do (release serotonin???), they help me keep going.
So, what foods? The usual suspects. Ice cream, M&Ms, artisanal breads, pasta in big portions, cheese, and so on.
There's also the notion of a "treat." When I've had a hard day, I like to treat myself. The old ones? A DQ Blizzard, a Starbucks Frappuccino.
Well...I have shifted what foods give me comfort and what fit the bill as treats. I noticed this the other day, when eating my homemade oven roasted tomatoes served as excellent comfort food, as good as any homemade mac and cheese or big slab of sourdough bread with butter.
And the other day when I was out and got myself a special treat? It was a Starbucks venti chai latte with nonfat milk! It still felt like an extra goodie, but it was only 260 calories instead of the enormous number of calories in previous treat foods!
I will always have certain "comfort foods" that have a calming effect on me...but the foods themselves have changed and will likely keep changing!!! How great--now I stand a much better chance for sustained success!!!

Sounds liek you really have a handel on the idea that losing weight means making lifestyle changes and being OK with it! Great job! I myself am still working on that!0

It's THOSE changes that have helped me lose 11 pounds recently. You coudln't have said it better!
Sometimes I feel bad because I can't really exercise (besides the fact I hate it anyway) so all my efforts lie in making better good choices. I know in time, I will need to exercise, but right now the risk to injury is too great.
This was inspiring to me
