protein question

On another site that I also use, they recommend eating 50% carbs, 30% protein and 20% fats. It was relatively easy to follow, with 5 to 6 mini meals consisting of a half cup protein, 1 cup carbs. Give or take, each meal came to 200 to 300 calories. And when I was sticking to it, I was losing a pound or so a week, so it was working. I just got lazy and quit trying.

I am enjoying this site a bit more, because the food counter is more user friendly, and I can have my whole day's meals put in within the time that it used to take me to do one meal on the other site. My only problem is that I always seem to be way over on my protein intake on this site. Does anyone know how to adjust the daily requirement to fit the amounts I'm eating? I've gotten very good at doing the 1/2 cup, 1 cup thing and am finding it hard to try and adjust to this site's daily amount requirement. Usually by the time dinner rolls around I'm already 4 or more over on my protein intake. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
Robin

This website's protein settings are infamously low. I really wouldn't worry about going over as long as your carb and fat intakes aren't suffering. I read somewhere that 1 g of protein per day per kg of body weight is about right. 1 kg is equal to 1 lb, so a 150 pound woman would need about 68g of protein a day. obviously much higher than MFP suggests.

You can change the amounts of different nutrients so it is more like the way you eat.

On your home page, click on "Goals."

Then click on the "Change Goals" button.

    Choose "Custom" and continue.

That will take you to a page where you can adjust the percentages you eat from carbohydrates, protein, and fat (along with a bunch of other stuff). After you finish, click on "Change Goals" and there you go!

    Hope that helps.

Thanks, I had actually just found out how to do that in the website suggestions forum. I've already updated it, and am good to go now!
