Cardio Boredom

Hey guys! So, I've been pretty good at doing cardio at least 5 days a week, but i'm the type of person to get extremely bored of routine. So far, I've been combining C25K, swimming, elliptical, and racquetball. But i'm starting to feel that boredom.
What are you guys doing to keep it interesting? ATM, i cant afford a gym membership, so I cant take classes

Try some HIIT training, doesn't give you time to think while you are working out0

I'm rocking the Insanity workouts right now. Have you heard of them? Definitely gets your heart going and the sweat pouring. After sixty days, when your down, you can switch up to do a Hybrid of Insanity and P90X or Insanity and ChaLEAN Extreme...very good products for keeping the boredom down.0

I do Zumba, youtube-videos, Wii, running, walking, stretching, ...0

Do you have cable or satellite tv? The exercise channel has lots of free workouts:flowerforyou: I think you can also get them through Netflix?0

Personally, I run outside on different routes to keep myself from getting into the same routine, because if I do that I get very bored very quickly. Around here we have something called the river trail, it's very nice and scenic, I just go to different spots on it and start running, it really helps ti have new scenery. If you have any trails around, you might try that, or just running different routes than you normally do. Hope this helps!0

Focus on why you.are doing this its not for entertainment.but for your health. Focus on hitting your goals. All programs have routine. You'll get bored with All of them eventually.so u.have to.change your mind set0

For my cardio I just turn on some music and start doing exercises off the top of my head. (Ones from Insanity, P90X, whatever else) and I use my phone as a stop watch and just do intervals. So basically I just jump around like an idiot for 45 mintutes. :P But man does it get my heart rate up. It works my leg muscles pretty good too. Working with a punching bag can be fun too.0

Do you have the time and resources to try a Martial Art?
If you are looking for a great workout check out Capoeira (Angola or Regional). There is also Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Judo, etc. etc.
All will offer a great mix of cardio and muscular exercise.
It will be difficult at first but give it a few weeks and you will be surprised at what you can accomplish.
Good Luck with whatever you find.0 -
I'm exactly like you - I get bored so easily! Once I not only accepted but EMBRACED that fact about myself, it all turned around for me. So many workouts focus on doing it for 30 days or 90 days or whatever - people can get sick of it and quit. I just do what I feel like doing. I might do boxing for a straight two weeks, or I might do boxing a couple days, belly dancing a couple days, kettlebells a couple days ...
It doesn't matter what you do as long as you're doing something.
If you don't already, I suggest getting a handful of different kinds of workout dvds that sound fun to you - pick them up used if you can (I got my favorite go-to boxing workout - a 2-DVD set - for $4 used!), or check them out at the library for free. Just move :drinker:
Good luck and have fun wth it! xoxoxo0 -
This guy had a great post on some exercises you can do. I took 6 of them and created a circuit yesterday that I did 3 times and within 30 min I had burned around 500 calories. Bear in mind I'm a little heavier than most so my burn will be more, but I definitely did not get bored.

If you have cable you can check out on demand and the excerise area. There are a ton of of workouts you can pick and choose from. I do this from time to time if I get bored of a routine. Right now I walk (very brisk pace), jog, bike, Zumba (DVDs), Yoga, Pilates, Hike (great with the nice weather), and right now I am concentrating on my Jillian DVDs (30 Day Shred and Ripped Abs in 6 weeks). Like you I get bored after awhile so I need to mix it up often!0

Oh, and someone else said. I also do Jiu jitsu. That's a lot of fun and it's a great workout! Grappling helps you build a lot of strength too!0
