Silly question about Calories

Ok, this is going to be a very odd question... but I'm way too curious to let my embarrassment get in the way!
So... Calories. Do they roll over? Like, if you have an extra 500 calories that you didnt eat after working out like a boss, does that mean you can essentially eat the extra 500 the next day? The reason I ask this is because all of the calorie equations pretty much say "your not supposed to consume X amount of calories per WEEK" ... so that leads me to believe that calories do, in fact, roll over LOL.
What do you guys think??

That's a really good question. I would imagine that you should avoid rolling over your calories. I wouldn't purposely not eat 500 calories just to eat an additional 500 the next day. Instead, I would work out to burn 500 calories so that I could consume an extra 500 for the same day.0

Sure, why not I don't think your body does a tally at the end of the day. Of course, I wouldn't go out of my way to make sure I eat the extra 500 the next day. But I wouldn't feel guilty if I spoiled myself a little lol.0

No, they don't roll over.
Mostly because when you burn calories, your body needs them back in that timeframe, not later. At least thats how I look at it.0 -

Yes they do. It is called zig zagging your calories. Google zig zagging. As long as you eat 3500 cals less a week than your body burns then you will lose a pound. Your body does not reset when the sun goes up or down. Oue metabolism is an ongoing process.0

Well, your body isn't a time clock. It doesn't reset at midnight. So if you want to "roll over" your calories, you can... to an extent. If I go hugely over on cals one day, I try to stay under the next couple to balance it out. But I wouldn't try to "bank" calories (like I've seen some people asking if they can be way under all week and then go crazy on the weekend). Try to keep your net cals right around your goal every day. If you're under one day, just try to be at goal the next day.0

I think YES, based on the fact that weight loss occurs over time, not in one day. Also, there is a whole theory that zig-zagging caloric intake actually works better for weight loss and this practice relies on calorie consumption throughout a week rather than on a day to day basis.0

Yes they do, which is why we are supposed to weigh ourselves weekly, because that's how it works out.
Some of the healthiest diets encourage you to eat slightly less (like around 100 calories) throughout the week so you save up some calories for an event, such as meal out or a night out. I have tried and tested this theory and it worked for me.

I do! If I know I'm going out at the weekend, then I will try to be under calories throughout the week. I make sure my weekly total is correct though! Same as if I was going out tomorrow night then I might do an extra couple of miles on my run so I don't have to do without too many goodies!
However, as you can see from my thread So-o-o acked off, I'm not at all successful so maybe just ignore me!
