Will eating similar food hinder my weight loss?

As much as I would love to love veggies, I don't - so I finally found a salad I like; McDonalds Southwest salad. I make my own homemade version of it with baby spring mix, corn, black beans, 6 oz of chicken and 2 tbsp of chipotle southwest sauce. It's like the only salad I eat, lol.. I'm scared that I wont lose weight because I'm eating the same salad over and over again -

Negative, a calorie is a calorie. It's good to change up to keep from becoming bored with your food and then losing interest and eating things you shouldn't. I eat the same breakfast every morning and have since 1-1-11...Good Luck0

LOL nope! you can eat the same stuff everyday in my personal experience I find stuff I like and just eat it over.... and over........... and over!0

I eat pretty much the same items with a little variation every day and it has never hindered my weight losses in the past. The bottom line is calories in vs calories out, within reason of course! Eating all chocolate up to 1200 calories isn't the same as eating 1200 calories of veggies, salad and protein.
Good luck...I think you'll be fine!0 -
I basically eat the same breakfast & lunch every day -- it's fast and easy for me to put together when getting ready for work. Supper time varies - a lot!
So at least 5 times a week I'm eating the same foods, but still losing weight. I don't think it really makes a difference. Just have options in mind in case you get bored with eating the same foods over and over again.0 -
I've read in several places it's good to find something you like and stick with it. It gives consistency, and you know you're staying within limits. It also gets quicker and quicker to prepare. The only time I've read you need to change up your food is when you get bored with it or you don't like it. I've never heard of the body reacting to the same food over and over (like it can with exercise).0

This sounds healthy to me! Depending on what's in the sauce... I do the same thing with foods I like. As long as you are getting all of your daily vitamins... what could be wrong with that?0

Will make logging your meals a snap0

I eat the same subway sandwich for lunch 4 days a week. Haven't had any problems. My diet doesn't vary much either.0

I only like two types of salad and I .eat them at least 5 times a week, and chicken is a huge part of my diet, I eat it at least 5 times a week just cooked different.... LOL You just want to make sure through out the day/week your diet is balanced wt the food groups0

What breakfast would that be? With 42 lbs. gone, I would love to know that little secret!0 -
I have a protein shake and yogurt for my first two meals everyday and it hasn't affected me! Now I want a salad after reading this, lol!0

I don't think so, unless of course all you're eating is ice cream all day. I have a light caramel frappucino for breakfast every day, usually similar stuff for lunch, and dinner is when things are a little different, but for the most part we have a few items that we pretty much stick to that we know their nutrition info on.0

this ^^^^^ is my LIFE. Haha...I eat new foods I love all the time, then get sick of them after a couple weeks. I don't think it is bad or will hinder your weight loss too much... I'm a picky eater so this is the way it is for me!0 -
I actually found out fhat for me, (and this is just personal experience) that it helped me a lot to change up what I ate. Now until I went on vacation to see family I didn't change up too much. Once I went to see my family (they eat healthy too), I ate a lot of greek yogurt and mixed berries. This is something I never had before. I did lose weight while on vacation. Everything in moderation!!
I wouldn't say that eating the same salad will stop any weight loss. Once in a while just throw in something different! Good luck to you BTW that salad sounds really good!0 -
Yay! This is GREAT news.. I've been killing myself trying to whip up new recipes afraid that eating the same things will stop me from losing weight. So glad to know this - thanks to ALL!!!!! Have a great Thursday!0

lol I eat the same breakfast every day as well and have still lost weight. Sometimes I throw in some variations but I'll never get bored because I love it so much. As long as you're eating under your calories you will still lose weight.0

I have a similar hatred of certain veggies. I didn't mind broccili, carrots, squash so much when I could put cheese or butter on them. However, now that I am eating veg without the sauces and cheese to dress it up, I find I despise them. I did find a trader joes' asparagus tray that I could microwave, and that I loved. So now I've been eating asparagus almost every night. I also eat a certain kind of lettuce for a lunch salad nearly everyday, because other kinds of lettuce just tastes bitter. I'm down 35 lbs. and it doesn't seem to hinder much. I'm not bored of it yet and it's been 3 months. I may branch out and try different things, but for now it's working, and helping me to supplement my diet with some green veg. Keep up the good work!0
