Inner Thigh Question

I was wondering if there was a way to emphasize working out the inner thighs on the stair climber or during strength training? My legs are mostly fine, but my thighs rub against each other, so I was wondering what I could do about that. I've been doing 30 min. cardio on the treadmill or stair climber nearly 5 days a week now and I've been doing some strength training as well. Thanks bunches!!

I have no idea what you call it, but I've done the exercise where you lay on your back and stick your legs straight up at a 90° angle to the floor. Slowly open your legs as far as they will go to the sides and then very slowly bring them back together again. You'll be amazed at how tired those muscles on your inner thighs will get after just a few of these. Once they get easier, wear a pair of heavy shoes. You can also add ankle weights.0

Ug, I have that same problem! I even had that problem in highschool when I weighted 95#!!! So I'm not sure if there is anything you can do about it. I think its just the way some of us are built/made. The only advice I would have is just tone it up as much as possible there (so its not flabby rubbing together...like mine now).

As an exercise physiologist and personal trainer for nearly 20 years - i can tell you this.
The adductor muscles (inner thighs) are relatively small...overworking them to remove the issue of your thighs rubbing together will not work. you will have stronger/toned inner thighs but the rubbing is from excess mass in that area - which is reduced by overall weight loss.
if you're in a gym environment - look for machines that work the adductors and abductors... good to idea to balance and work them both.
don't get hung up on one body part...you'll lose the big picture (forest for the trees mentality). keep in mind VERY few folks' thighs don't rub together...regardless of size
keep up the good work...0
