you shouldn't be on 1200 calories a day given the small amount you wish to lose. You can read the posts below for more information.

Interesting links. I thought I was doing things right (and maybe I am) and I read the links posted... just want to check.
My BMR is 1,296. I'm currently 28, 5'2" and 135 lbs. My BMI is 24.7, which is in the healthy range, but just barely (25 is the top end of healthy). It says my ideal weight range is between 101.2 - 136.7, so again, at 135 lbs, I'm at the high end of my healthy range. I'd like to be around 120 or 125 ideally. I'm doing cardio and strength training (3 days of cardio, 2 days of strength training and then I sometimes do a shorter cardio or shorter strength training on the weekend).
I've got my calories set to 1,300/day and I am eating almost every single exercise calorie -- within 100 each day, usually well within 50. I'm reaching my protein goals and staying a little bit under my carb and fat goals -- within 10 g each usually. So I feel like I'm doing well, and I feel good... but am I perhaps hindering myself?
Am I doing this right? Obviously it's going to go slowly for me, and I'm ok with that because I'm changing my relationship with food over time and getting healthier, too. Time is not an issue -- I don't expect to lose the last 10 - 15 pounds in a month or anything crazy like that. But based on all of this info, am I doing things properly, or am I hindering myself?
After reading some stuff I'm thinking I should have more calories a day, but... I don't know. And I was wondering if the default % of carbs to fat and protein is ok. Currently it's set to 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat. I realize I work out 30-45 mins a day for 5-6 days a week, but I have a pretty sedentary lifestyle otherwise, so I chose "sedentary" as my lifestyle when I set my goals... was that right?
Have I set myself up for success or failure? Thanks for any advice or suggestions or thoughts.1 -
it sounds like you're doing just fine. I'm in about the same position as you are. I didn't have a lot to lose, and it has come off very slowly. I think i've lost 15lbs since April...it takes longer when you don't have a lot to lose. Just keep in tune with your body. Some days I am just feeling like I'm hungry all day, so I eat more, but then I also try to get out and walk on my breaks at work (I too have a desk job)...Some days I'm over my cals by 100 or so, some days i'm below by 100 or so. Just be consistent, eat healthy foods, stay active and listen to your body..if its telling you you're hungry, then feed it!!
good luck!!0 -
