I normally always drink a protein shake first thing in the morning when I wake up on my workout days, one reason is because I can't eat anything that early. This morning I skipped it, had my morning coffee, sat around for a little while to wake up, then started my workout as usual. About half way through my workout, I started getting nauseated. I always drink plenty of water while working out, so I don't think that was it. After I finished my workout, I had a protein shake, and felt fine after a few minutes. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had this happen, and if they think it was probably because of not eating or not having anything on their stomach before working out?

I dealt with that a few times when I first started working out. I think its a shift in maybe sugar levels? If I exercise in the early morning I always do it on an empty stomach so maybe by now I'm use to it. Next time maybe you should go ahead and have
your shake, feeling nauseated is aweful!0 -
If I workout first thing I'm normally fine. But if I sit around for a little while I have to have something or else I get nauseated. I try to keep it small tho. Either a protein shake or a yogurt.0

I get the same way, everyone says to eat after you workout.. I can't I get sick & feel like I'm going to faint. I try to eat an hour before I work out & drink a protein shake right after my workout..0

I often work out first thing in the morning. I am not a breakfast person really. I try to eat fruit before I work out, but it is normally after I work out. I try to eat carbs before and protein after. Was your workout any different? Did you push yourself a litte harder? How much rest did you have last night? I would say if everything else was normal and the shake was you only difference then it very well could have been teh cause. Empty stomach work-outs can be hard on you.0

That's what I'm thinking, I had plenty of sleep, and my workout was my normal arms and shoulder routine, though I uped the weight on a few exercises. Think I'll make sure I have my shake first thing tomorrow morning.0 -
I sometimes feel that way when I am extremely exhausted. Some fruit usually helps me out.0

I have always had this happen when i increase weights. no idea why but heavy lifting makes me sick to my stomach. don't know if it's the way i breathe, or what. anytime i bump up my weights i am guaranteed to feel sick the first time or two.0 -
