Hibachi!

Alright MFPers!! I'm going to a hibachi for lunch tomorrow and I need some advice. I love hibachi and since this site is about changing our habits to encourage healthier choices I need some opinions. I fully intend to enjoy hibachi throughout my life- I love it all- the cheesy chefs, the big flames and the fabulous food! My question is this: what is the best option? Just a veggie plate? Shrimp? clearly asking for white rice instead of fried rice is necessary- not worried about that. If you think that the best choice is just to enjoy it and consider it a "cheat" please say so!

Sorry you lost me at Hibachi!!! I went off to a wonderful happy place that has scallops, shrimp, rice and noodles galore!!!!
Okay, now that I've wiped the drool from my face, I would just enjoy, half of what they put on my plate. I know the place we go to has HUGE portions. So maybe just pack half up to take home.0 -
Well i would say they are all probably bad so i would just consider this your cheat day and drink LOTS of water to cover the sodium. and dont eat all of what is on the plate. enjoy!!!0

oh! i jus thad Hibachi for lunch!!
For me, I have what I want..then adjust the rest of the day!! I do love the scallops (which helps!) and I drink a diet drink with it . If you like, you can look at my food diary...
Have a good lunch!!!0 -
I went to a Hibatchi a couple of weeks ago and was going to consider it a cheat day since it was my birthday. When I logged the food though it wasn't as bad as I thought. Lots of sodium but calories were ok. I had steak and shrimp with fried rice but I only ate about half. I had the other half for lunch the next day. I even had the shrimp sauce, oh how I love that stuff!0

I would pick the healthiest option you know you'd still enjoy.0

Oh absolutely! Good call with the water!0 -
If they aren't using a ton of oil and sauce, its actually not a bad choice at all. One of the places I've been too used very little and it ended up being healthier than plenty of meals we have at home!
That said, I personally tend to like having cheat days every once in a while. Sometimes you need to just have what sounds god and not worry too much. I still lose weight with them since its only a once in a while thing0
