To call or not to call...

So a few days after I got here this guy gave me his number. He said "Call me if you need anything, a ride anywhere, for me to cook you dinner, ANYTHING."

But, I don't really date often, and I'm not good at picking up on whether guys are genuine in these situations or not...so I've been too chicken to call.

Friends say I should call, maybe this weekend I'll get the courage to do so.

You'll never know how genuine he is if you don't ever take him up on his offer.

Call with no more expectations then possibly gaining a new friend and if it turns into something more then that, burn that bridge when you get there. I wouldn't be nervous though, he didn't HAVE to give you his number at all.

The words "a ride anywhere, for me to cook you dinner, ANYTHING." would make me a little nervous. I'd call & keep if a phone friendship until you get to know him better before I would take him up on the other offers.

It's someone on the island, someone I sort of work with, but not really. Not everyone has cars here, and if you're under a certain rank you have to share rooms. So, I have a roommate and not a lot of privacy. He had the task of driving me around for check in a couple of weeks ago and gave me his number, We got along well during the day we drove around together, and it isn't uncommon for people to offer you rides, or to invite you over for a drink if you don't know them. Yeah, it's still good to be cautious, but we're all stuck here. I guess I should've been a little more explicit with my backstory, but it's hard to relay I suppose.

I would like to facebook stalk him first though ;)

Ha there's only like 5 places to eat and subway is getting old. I would love for him to cook me a nice meal.

Well I went with BM1 and IT2 to a BBQ for our SECO who is leaving. I'm about to go drink with them in an hour-well continue drinking from the BBQ at any rate. (BM1 is the one who gave me his number before). Should be a fun weekend...and I guess I should do my homework as well.
