Hello everyone!
I have been on MFP for a while, since October, and I really struggle with my self control and overeating. I keep losing and gaining the same 5 lbs. I am trying to reevaluate things now and come up with a new approach and plan. I have 60 lbs to lose and would really like to lose 25 by my birthday in October. Any suggestions?
Thanks! :-)
Diana

Get a lot of friends and open up your Diary. Peer pressure works wonders. Other than that just stay on course. make sure you eat enough and work out.0

Oh another Diana with 60lbs to lose AND a birthday in October....
It's my 60th on 29 October and I had hoped to have lost a chunk of weight but health issues have put paid to that so I'm just doing a bit of exercise most days & watching what I eat, for the time being.
I have 3-4lbs that keep coming off then going back on!!
When I first started with MFP I was quite shocked to see what my usual eating habits mounted up to - around 1000 cals more than my allowance now.
So keeping a daily diary is important, and I think making an effort to do some form of exercise most days too.
I don't know if that helps you at all
Feel free to add me as a friend
Hope your journey is a success

Take it one day at a time. One week at a time. One month at a time and one pound at a time. Weight loss is a tricky thing which will take mostly control over your diet with some exercise added in to your routine. Ask questions along the way and make friends on MFP who are supportive and will offer advice, inspiration and motivation along the way. You can do it!!! Good luck.0

You lose it one choice at a time. Sometimes the big picture can be a bit overwhelming, so just focus on each decision as you encounter it during your day. And don't worry about making the "perfect" choice; just try to make a better choice than you did last time. Eventually the small changes add up, and it does get easier.
You can definitely do this. Best wishes for reaching your goals.0 -
I struggle with the same thing. I am super motivated one day and could care less the next day. I feel on fire for losing the weight and eating good and working out... then I just want to enjoy my meal and not count a calorie! I'm so inconsistent that I am not losing. It's very frustrating!0

Very true! A friend of mine shared this link with me last week, and it's actually very helpful when it comes to "munching" on something.

I'm going through this right now. I bust my @$$ working out, try to make healthier diet choices, but then I see the scale doesn't move or move in the wrong direction and I want to binge. When that happens, or when my efforts go unnoticed (not that I'm conceited or narcissistic...but I can't see a difference in my size, and no comments tell me others don't either), then I feel like it's all in vein. I have 1.5 lbs that keep teasing me. I get 1/2 lb within my 20lb mark, and then 1.5 jump back on. GRRRRR!!0 -

My suggestion would be to switch things around and "bust your @$$" focusing on diet and make exercise secondary. Once I switched from exercising all of the time (P90X, elliptical and Taekwondo)... to really cracking down on my food intake, I lost weight very quickly. 80% diet. 20% exercise. It seems you may not have found the right balance for your body yet. Experiment with caloric intake and really watch what types of food you are consuming. When I focused on making breakfast my biggest meal of the day with tons of protein, I dropped almost 10 pounds in 3 weeks! Seriously... look to your food intake for the answers. Good luck! Just stick with it and never give up!0 -
Thanks for the advice and support everyone! :-)0

I can totally relate to you!! Some days I'm so motivated, others (usually the weekends) I could care less and would rather eat what I want. Those are the days I don't come on MFP because I don't want to log, but I know I should!0 -
I have 62lbs to lose, and just getting started. I've lost 7lbs in the past week with eating pure protein, which helps you lose weight because it's harder to digest. If you've been exercising, the additional weight may be muscle mass since it weighs more than fat. Don't get discouraged! Food choices are important too. Pure protein will help you lose weight, as will eating more vegetables and drinking lots of water. I'm going to friend you so we can can keep each other motivated!0
