This Chili Recipe I got from U weight loss. This is a meal that is about 300 Calories. I can't remember if this makes one sercing or two, but it;s perfect for me since I Live alone... The Great thing about this as well. You can switch out the Turkey for Some hearty fish Like Mahi mahi or use tofu and it's even great with Steak but the the calories change of course.

1/2 tsp Virgin Olive Oil
5 1/2 oz Ground Turkey
1/4 cup Chopped Onion
1/2 cup Mixed Beans
1 1/2 tsp Chili powder Crushed chili peppers
1 tsp minced Garlic
1 tsp Black pepper
1 cup Crushed Tomatoes
1/4 cup Mushrooms-Sliced
1/4 cup Red pepper- Sliced

Directions

heat oil, add ground turkey. Saute til brown, Add all the veggies. cook for about 5 minutes til onions area almost soft. Add in the Crushed tomatoes and the spices. Simmer for 20 minutes. Place in a bowl and serve!

I used to make plain biscuits all the time but my at the time boyfriend hated vegetables so when I would make a meal, He would eat the biscuits and a chunk of meat with no Veggies.
So I took the time to get as much stuff in there as possible. What I like to do, is when I cook Carrots in just plain water, Save the Water and add some powdered skim Milk to use in this recipe instead of milk. So you're adding in some extra nutrients from the carrots. You can do it with any left over veggie water. I like using Spinach water. but it turns the biscuits slightly Green...

1/2 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
1 Cup White Flour
1/2 Cup Ground or Whole Flax
3 Tbsp baking Powder
2 Tsp Sugar
1 tsp Salt
2 tbsp Shortening
3/4 Cup mashed Yam
1/4 Cup Milk

Directions

Preheat oven to 400
Stir together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. cut in shortening til pea sized or smaller. Mix in the Yam and Milk. It shall be very soft and a tad sticky. just add a bit of Olive oil to your hands to prevent sticking and so you can work with the dough very well.
Turn onto a floured surface. Pat flat. to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into circles or take small cuts out and pat into Circles.
Put onto a baking sheet. You can grease the pan if you wish but you don't have to. I never do and My biscuits never stick.
bake 13 Minutes.

The biscuits especially sound really good! Assuming I could use coconut oil or something else in place of shortening, which I don't keep in the house.

I've never tried to use Coconut oil in place of margarine. But i've never tried to use cococnut oil. How does that taste?
But I'm Sure it would work. try to google it or try it. you should let me know how that turns out

Do you know the calories on the biscuits? I know flax and sweet potatoes are very healthy but will bring the calories up a bit.

I've swapped out most oils for coconut oil and it works wonders. It has the same texture as shortening and gives whatever you're making a slight coconut taste, but is really yummy and very heart healthy. If I have time, I'll try to make these this weekend and keep you posted.
