Turbofire/Insanity/P90X

I have all 3 of these. From what I've heard Turbofire is the best one to start with. Is that correct? Honestly I am scared I'm going to fail, so haven't started any yet.
I have been doing Banish Fat one day followed by No More Trouble Zones combined with either ripped in 30, 30 day shred, or 6 week six pack. I also have been following Insanity's meal plan.

Any opinions on which I should start first?

Thanks!

Once you begin you start on the road to success. If you fall get back up again, and get back up again. DO not go into it with a failure mentality, because it can psych you out when you feel you may not be doing as good as u should be doing. Just go for it and take it one day at a time.

You're not going to fail!! There's a great thread group for people using Insanity. Even those of us that have completed still hang around on there and cheer everyone on. It's tough but easier to hang in there with others in similar situations.

I just started a turbo fire/chalean extreme hybrid and I love it too.

Insanity is more in your face, LET'S MOVE!
Turbo Fire is more like a party but still a butt kicker. She has great music and tons of enthusiasm.
Can't help you out with P90X.
  • Thanks! Very good thought. I think I'll start one of them Monday.

i say just jump into the program you want! I have all three first, started with P90x, then Insanity and then Turbo mixed with Insantity! Either one will be challenging but I am sure you can handle them since I see you already workout!

I'd suggest Turbo Fire, then P90X, then Insanity. Or you can always mix and match. I believe there are hybrid workouts that use the strength training of P90X and Insanity for the cardio.

Are the moves hard to get down in Turbo Fire?

Yeah I would say of the three Turbofire is a great way to start. All very different workouts though!! Just make sure you follow the workout schedule, and you will be great no matter which one you pick!!!

I have done Insanity and P90X and will probably try Turbofire in the fall. I would suggest watching the first DVD of each and then decide what you are more comfortable with.

Don't feel like you need to conquer it all immediately either! Even people who work out all of the time struggle with some of the exercises. Just do what you can and feel great about the accomplishment!

The first few times you do Turbo Fire you'll basically just be flailing around trying to keep up and you think "omg I will never get this down" but trust me, it takes like no time to get the hang of. I promise!!

I hated insanity, which is funny because my bootcamp workouts are sooo similar. I guess I like someone being there to get on me-haha. Like P90x, helped me lose and tone it just moved to slow for my liking. However, Chalene Johnson-I have never done her Turbo Fire, but I did lose 70 lbs with her Turbo Jam. Turbo Jam is actually a great one to start with. You prob don't have it. You would have to go old school with her. I love Tony Horton and Shawn T, but I LOVE LOVE Chalene Johnson. Her workouts are fun, music is great and it is just fun all around. Since you have Turbo Fire and not Jam I would start with that!! She does not disappoint!!

I've done workouts from TurboFire and P90x. TurboFire is better cardio and P90 is better for gaining muscle. I don't particularly care for the TF ab workout, but LOVE the AbRipper x. I think I'm going to mix up the 2.

Yeah what she said! Even "failing" burns calories though. There is also a "new to class" option where she stops and tells you how to do the next set of moves.

i have all three and i've done all three.

turbo fire is like kickboxing but with dance like moves and is super fun and upbeat and motivating. chalene really gets you fired up. the moves are tricky at first but each dvd has an option for "new to class" which breaks down all the moves.

p90x isn't my cup of tea. a lot of pushups and pull ups...i got frustrated really easily. but i still saw results.

insanity is crazy awesome! it's go go go! pretty much you go hard for 10 minutes, then do stretching for another 10, then go hard for 10 minutes. love it!

i suggest turbo fire first and then insanity. :-) good luck!

I haven't any other program than the p90x (on day 24 of my first round ever) but i wanted to say that i was deathly afraid of quitting. mind you, i still have 66 days (but who's counting) so the thought will still come but what's helped me stick to it is 1) i'm stubborn and i like challenges. when i first saw day 1's workout i thought WTF?!?! but i did what i could. now i look forward to my workouts! 2) i don't do it alone. my hubby is right there too. i don't know if i'd be disciplined enough to do it on my own (just being honest) 3) reading success stories of course.

i get bored easily. you can lose my attention quick but p90x has kept me on my toes and i see improvements in each workout as i do it. my push ups, my ab exercises, even in the yoga part. it's awesome!

so just wanted to say that i had the same fear and i posted about it here on mfp. everyone assured me i wouldn't quit and from what i can see they're right. i'm more motivated today than i was the day before my p90x journey.

I'm basically at my GW. Looking to tone, but not build too much muscle.

I finished one round of P90X, have done a couple of Insanity workouts with a friend, and am currently doing Turbo Fire. That being said I'd start with Turbo Fire, then P90X, then Insanity. They all have their own levels on intensity but just remember to maintain your routine, keep moving and you'll see results in no time!

How does Turbofire work? And how long does it last?

The only real failure is in never trying.

Turbofire is a high intensity cardio workout that is extremely fun. It's set to upbeat music which makes the workouts fly by. The program is 90 days long - each video varies from 15 minutes to 60 minutes.

Great program if you're looking to improve your overall cardiovascular fitness/fat burning capabilities.
