Hi everyone. Maybe there is already a thread for this topic but i'm new on here and just figuring out how this works:)
So far I've lost 2 pounds in 5 days. I am eating great and making wiser choices, but in no way want to deprive my baby Daisy of any thing she needs nutrition wise. It is a tough balance, but so worth it.
I have found losing weight while BF very hard. I'm not one of those girls who drop all her weight over night after delivering. I am working out 3 days a week and taking care of Daisy. She is awesome and I want to get fit and be in the best shape ever for a long time. Got to see her grow up:) Oh yeah, I turn 40 in 4 weeks exactly. Want to be 40 and fabulous!

Welcome! I am 30 weeks pregnant, due in August! I use MFP to help stay on track during pregnancy and will be using MFP afterwards to get back in shape :o)

You don't need to worry about the nutrition that you are giving to your beautiful baby. Your body will make exactly what she needs. As long as she is healthy and gaining weight you are giving her the best thing you can. I'm glad you are making healthy choices. That will help you to be strong for her. Also, BF should actually help you lose the weight faster compared to if you weren't. After my second daughter I lost 30lbs in less than 3 months and I'm sure that it was helped by the fact that I was almost exclusively nursing. After stitching to formula I kind of plateaued at that 30lb loss.

Bumping so I can forward to a BFing friend... (Great idea...she would love to connect with others in this situation. Mine are too old, and couldn't do it when they were young enough. :( But so proud (and I lil' jealous) of you guys!!)

good for you for BF and trying to get in shape. Its hard to do both, not because you won't lose weight, you absolutely WILL while BF, but watch how much you workout. SOmetimes working out can reduce your supply, so don't overdo it!!! Make sure you are getting enough calories to keep producing, its a hard balance, but its doable!! Im still nursing my little one (shes 10 weeks tomorrow) but only a few times a day due to a decrease in supply. :-( makes me sad, but what can i do, right? once they shut down, they shut down, so keep eating!!! and exercising. :-) you're doing the best thing for both of you.
btw, congrats!!! theres nothing more amazing (and hard) than being a mom. :-)

Hey there! I"m a momma of 6 and have nursed all my babies. when i was nursing #3 I was good friends with a momma of 10! she gave me all sorts of wonderful advice on all sorts of topics. She looked fabulous too for being a momma of 10..anyways, something she said about nursing and exercise, she said she always waited until the baby was 4 1/2 months old to pick it up a notch... she said during those first 4 months you should be losing weight anyways, because nursing takes calories... but if you start too early it could possibly reduce milk production..so, just keep a watch on it, idk how old your blessing is... Best of wishes to you!!! :)
  • YAY! I am not the only BF mom on here. I am looking forward to getting to know you ladies and hoping this will be a GREAT support thread for us all. Thanks for your replies:)
  • Daisy Faith is 5 months old. I lost 30 lbs in the first 2 months approx. but have only lost 3 since. Since I have been on here, I see I had been eating 2,000 calories+ per day. No wonder losing weight was so hard!
