I have this. This is the Smart sync. It is not an HRM. It works with their HRM strap to download info to the PC. I got it for a couple bucks with my HRM a few years ago. It cannot be used without an HRM.0

If you want one that really accurately tells you what you want to get from an HRM, you really need one with a chest strap.
I did, however, start out with one that was just a watch, which for me, was better than nothing.
I got mine at Costco (New Balance brand) for $35. It told you heart rate, calories burned and also worked at a pedometer, it had an alarm, told you your speed while running, etc.
Was OK for running/elliptical, but didn't work for weight training, so I got one with a chest strap.
I don't see the one I got on the Costco website, but they have it on the Target site: http://www.target.com/s?keywords=heart+fit++&searchNodeID=1038576|1287991011&ref=sr_bx_1_1
It the very first one, all grey, heart fit + for $49.
Hope that helps some!0 -
This is the one I bought from ebay:

I love it. It was for sale on Buy it Now for 29.99 or best offer, and I took a shot and offered 19.99 and he took it. I haven't had it very long, about a month maybe, but so far it's been great.0 -
I found one at BIG 5 and the price is $19.00 on sale. I am thinking of getting one. It is 1-Tough Heart Rate Monitor Watch. Does this really count calorie while you workout? Please let me know as I may go get it today.0

The question is: if you don't have enough money to pay for a reliable brand of HRM, do you have money to just throw away on something that will not give you accurate information? To me, it's a false economy--you aren't "saving" money by going with a cheapo HRM--you are actually spending more because you are wasting the money you spend on a lesser purchase.0
