I like to take a walk or watch a funny movie like Superstar or The Proposal. Just getting out is the sun can boost your mood too. I hope you have a better day tomorrow!!!0

I talk to my sister, watch a movie, or even come on here and look at the success stories. You remember what has gotten you here in the first place but you keep going because each day will get better. Chin up.0

I know exactly what you are talking about!! For me there is a direct correlation to my bad days and my binges. And always after I binge, I come up with a bunch a things that I could have done instead (guilt). But some of the things I come up with are...
1. Remembering that God is with you and He understands what you are going through AND He really wants you to succeed. So just hold on a little while it will all work out beautifully!!
2. listening to some music ( this can be done along with #3 lol)
3. writing in my prayer journal
4. talking a Walk
5. Watching some Hulu

Those are the days I'm more careful than ever to eat right and take care of myself. It's a conscious choice. Hard? Yes! BUT...when you push through it victoriously, there is no greater feeling! You are worth the effort...no excuses! :flowerforyou:0

It usually comes to down (1) I'm angry or (2) I'm sad... and I have to think or talk or cry my way through these feelings. Else I'll go for two bottles of wine in one night0

When it's really bad and I can't think about anything but eating, I go to sleep.
If it's just pretty bad, I take a bath (preferably with a good book or a stupid magazine to read) and if I don't feel better afterwards, I go to sleep.
If it's not TOO bad, I work out, clean, organize, look up new recipes to try for the upcoming week, make up an errand to do to get out of the house. Basically, just try to distract myself with something productive and not conducive to eating.
Good luck and check in here whenever you need support!

Sometimes too you can control your binge... like Monday I didn't get a job I had applied for and I found out a friend's Leukemia was back for the 3rd time... well it was too much... I needed to eat, so I did... but controlled it. Ate more of something (potato chips) than I normally do, but not as much as I used to. I didn't make myself sick, but I felt a bit better. And I stayed within calories...
Another thing I did was commit to cutting corn syrup out completely, so even in those moments I feel I need to binge or just am craving something others think are bad for me, I follow my simple rule of no corn syrup and it make me think about it more deeply. Haven't had the corn syrup since January and I feel great... even with the weight I have higher energy and am able to move more... It is quite awesome...
One thing I also remember, having once worked for a nutritionist: Don't deny yourself the foods your body craves, just modify the amount you intake. So if for whatever reason you want chocolate, eat the chocolate, just don't eat ten chocolate bars (I have been known to do that). I set limits on things (like only one chocolate or sierra mist natural a day) and it seems to be working for me.
The hardest part has been lowering the calories, since I was so used to eating 4000 calories to maintain my weight. To lose weight right now MFP has me eating 2770 and that has taken some time to adjust. At first I used exercise to supplement replacing calories, but now, in expectation of a new calorie drop, I am trying to ensure I don't eat 2770 a day (keeping it around 2600 most days - except Monday when I binged I went to like 2800 or so but was still under thanks to exercise).
I eat what I want, but make choices about what goes in my system... And like Jamie Oliver says, if you don't know what something is why put it in your body - I have been trying to live by that, eating things that have just a few whole ingredients (I love whole foods for that).
Anyway, feel free to invite me to be your friend on here. It sounds like you might need some support. Sometimes I feel that way.
Blessings

Personally I clean, and then clean some more... it's so satisfying because there's so much reward when I'm finished, a great distraction!. I went over a bit on my carbs tonight, not much but going over ANY freaks me out. :blushing: so I've found myself washing out trash cans, boiling eggs, doing some hand washing, wow, I don't even know what all else I got done. I feel great and now it's almost time for bed.
Oh! I mentioned the carbs because I really wanted a a low fat bag of microwave popcorn, any other day, no big deal but I'm working very hard at making a conscience effort to eat only when I need a snack not simply because it's in the cupboard.
It takes practice for us all, you'll get there!!:flowerforyou:0 -
indeed you are worth the effort0

Honestly I have a bit of a split personality, and have two very different coping mechanisms.
1) Head out for a trail run.
2) Head out to the local bar and have cocktails with my friends.
On very rare occasions I have been known to do both. However, think I would only recommend one of he two ;-)0 -

As someone who fights with depression (and then binging), here are some of the tools I use to fight through it and get myself in a better state of mind:
1. Exercise. Nothing like a good workout to cheer me back up (or release some anger).
2. Do something that feels like an accomplishment (cleaning, paying the bills, any task I "have" to do soon).
3. Read a favorite book.
4. Do something for pure entertainment (watch a movie, play a video game, anything pure distraction).
5. Relax - take a bubble bath, do some breathing exercises.
6. Go over a list of things I am thankful for.
7. Call a friend.0
