Anyone have success with getting rid of this? Does this really exist or is it a bunch of crap?

I have to say, I have almost every symptom and many of the causes. I'm looking at some OTCs and about to start treating for it. I refuse to do the candida diet though. Eliminating all: sugar (no fruit) and yeast-containing products (that includes vinegar - think of all your salad dressings and pickles!) just is NOT a possibility for me.

Candida albicans is always present, you will not (and should not) totally eliminate it. It can overgrow when your immune system is suppressed (such as during times of stress, illness, etc.). The overgrowth... or imbalance of the microorganisms in your mouth and urinary/GI tract is what causes problems. Many of these organisms are necessary for healthy function.

You may treat overgrowths of candida called 'thrush' with nystatin suspension (prescription only) or also clotrimazole troches (prescription only).

I should have specified that the two products I mentioned are oral products...

Get some good probiotic caps from the supplement isle and take as directed. They may cause a bit of a loose stool issue when you first start them. Second would be to reduce as much processed sugar from your diet as you can since the yeast feeds on sugars. Third would be to try and limit the yeast products (mostly breads) you take in. Depending on where the candidiasis is presenting (skin, throat, vag, etc) stop using antibacterial/antimicrobial soaps, sanitizers, chemical douches and mouthwash. Inhaled steroid products (asthma and COPD type inhalers as well as some nasal sprays), also oral pills that contain steroids or antibiotics can contribute to the imbalance.

My guy gets thrush at least once a month from his COPD meds, but he will not stop his sweet tea addiction.... so the battle continues.:ohwell:

This could be prevented (at least reduced in frequency) with proper technique and rinsing the mouth after use of the inhaled product.

You have to take the meds to get rid of it and yes it does exist. if you can see the white in your mouth... it will rub off... BUT it will burn really bad when you do that... so just take meds. People who wear dentures can get this if they never take them out or clean them.

He does rinse and gargle after use every time (water or saline). He tried a few different inhalers. He even saw a specialist about it and did the high dose anti fungal meds for 10 days. It still comes back. He likes his breads and southern sweet tea. Unless the doc tells him that he is getting diabetes he won't give them up. His doc just allows the refill (single pill) at the pharmacy when he calls.
