Do you stop the timer on your hrm when the workout is over, or when your heart rate is back to normal?

I do not stop it when the workout is over. I let the timer go to record the calories burned. I want that afterburn recorded! I let my heart rate get back down close to my normal resting rate (about 10 or so BPM above). Depending on the intensity & length of your workout, your body will continue to burn calories at an elevated rate for a while after you've stopped. This number can be pretty high, so if you're trying to accurately track your calories, i'd say it's better to let it keep running. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can give us specifics.0

I generally stop it when the work out is over. On thursday I did not stop it until I got back to the personal training desk to scan in but thats because I forgot I was even wearing it!0
