HELP!!! I have been gaining and losing the same 5 pounds for the last 2 months now!!! Last week I gained and this week I gained  I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I just changed up my workout and started running 4 days a week for 25-30 minutes. I eat back my exercise calories and I have a polar FT7 HRM. I know I could probably eat a little better at dinner but we have been relying on food from a food pantry or given to us by family. My diary is open and I am looking for some suggestions. On Saturdays and Sundays I don't log and I eat what I want within reason I know its under 2000 Calories. What is wrong why won't my body let me get below 140?? Please HELP ME!!!

  • I have not looked at your diary, but I would start logging on weekends...

Me too, check your weekends - you would be surprised how quickly mystery calories creep in even when you think you are doing fine.

I agree - the weekends are probably hurting - most people overestimate what they burn and underestimate what they consume, and 2-3 days a week of less than stellar eating can and will stop you from losing. Also, perhaps you shouldn't be eating all of your exercise calories back - unless you are wearing an HRM, the calorie estimates you get for exercise from MFP are usually off, and are usually too high. Finally - add more fruits, veggies and lean protein, less processed foods.

I would definitely log every day no matter what, and I would not eat all the exercise calories back, maybe some but not all.
  • I went through all of May and a week of June doing that. I think it was because I didn't log Sundays. Now instead of giving myself a free day I give myself a free meal and log everything else. I finally got over that hump and started losing weight again.

I agree with the others: log and stay on track daily, be careful to not overestimate calories burned, & eat less carbs and more protein. Try these things for a couple of weeks and I bet it will make a difference. Good luck!!

I have a HRM a Polar FT7 :) The processed foods are because it is what we have available to us right now. I do need more fruit and veggies definitely. I guess I should start logging weekends then and see what happens.

I log EVERYTHING everyday. I've had plenty of "low-nutritional value/high calorie" meals (like yesterday's doughnuts), but log it all no matter what. I have to be real with myself on this healthy lifestyle change.

So, yes, log your weekends so you get an accurate picture of what you're really eating those days. Perhaps only eat half your exercise calories back and see how that goes.

Also, with your goal weight in mind, what is the healthy range of weight for your height/body frame? Have you hit a plateau or are you actually at a good weight for yourself?

I have the Polar FT7 and love it. Though just so you know the calorie burn indicated is still inflated. I have the Bodybugg and it gives me half of the calories my brand new Polar FT7 does. I would just continue to use the heart rate monitor but count the calories for half of what is indicated. It doesn't hurt you for it to be half and it will help you especially if you are eating them back. You could possibly be eating more calories than you really are burning or it could be the weekend logging. Either way if you cut it in half it would help not hinder you.
