two a days?

How many MFP users do two or more workouts in a day? What are your routines/when do you fit in two workouts?
I have been working towards a goal of trying out for a professional cheerleading team and they have moved up tryout dates by a month (yikes!) so I am at a crunch time to get ripped quick. Now tryouts are one month away on July 17!!! I am in my second month of insanity and plan on continuing...but since I do insanity before work in the AM i have some time in the PM to add in a second workout. Running? Weight training? Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks friends

I usually find myself working out at least twice. I lift either in the morning or afternoon, and then I either walk, dance, or bike the opposite. Or sometimes I lift in the morning then do something in the middle of the day. I just like to be active more than just exercise. Walk to get the mail, bike to school, what ever is less sitting and more moving I think is helpful
I'd say weight training for you, since insanity is a ton of cardio right?0 -
I would try to make one workout strength training, and the other cardio. I would also limit the 2-a-days to 3 days a week. Depending on your fitness base, it can take a toll. Be sure you are taking multi-vitamins since your immune system may diminish some from the extra stress.
You also will want to UP your calorie intake. You're gonna need all the energy you can to keep the machine running smooth.
Having said that, tons of people do them. I did them 4 -5 days a week for 5 years training for triathlons. You WILL have days where you feel sluggish, or have dead legs. Listen to your body and never fear an extra day of rest.0 -
I try and at least go for a 2 hour walk on days that I do resistance (3 days a week, every other day), and if I feel like doing something else on days that I do cardio, I also go for a walk (always in the evening). I do p90x plus otherwise, and i usually end up asking myself if i even need to be doing two workouts haha but that's what i do. sometimes walking is running, i guess it depends on how I feel.0

Try Jillian Michael's Rippid in 30 ! It's here 3-2-1 system for 30 days promising insane results. I'm on day 3 and my body was TOO WEAK to even properly blow dry my hair afterwards. 2 pounds lost from the beginning of her program (I'm on day 3) its 30 minutes and that is perfect for an after work workout that won't entirely beat you down or take the whole night.0

wow professional cheerleading?!?! THAT'S GREAT!! good luck!!! but I usually do two a days during the week
I use body rocker tv -- this will really help you get toned, it's free online, and HIIT (which burns twice the amount of calories as a regualar workout) http://www.bodyrock.tv/ Just look at the girl, she is RIPPED. i usually will do two of those so about 30 min of this
then later I will go do a 45 min workout at the gym either running or elliptical or mix. I do jogging and sprinting intervals which is great!!
or, you can set your tredmill to a sprint usually above 7.5, and run it for 30 seconds, step to the side for 10 sec, hop back on for 30, step off for 10, and repeat this until you feel like you're going to die =] hahaha usually only takes about 30 min to feel like exhuasted. or running on an incline is always good.
Since you are already really close to your goal weight like me, I would highly suggest INTERVAL training. Going hard for 30 sec then going slow for 10 or go hard for 1 min go slow for 30. Whatever you feel most compfortable with.
This will get you in the best shape, i promise =]
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE TWO A DAYS (only bad part is your usually sweaty the whole day & you never know if you should take two showers or one after the second workout lol)0 -

and when I say, go HARD-- i mean you need to almost max out your heart rate during that time0 -
@arizona jr & @jennw10 I think you are both right since insanity is a TON of cardio maybe so weight/strength training would be the best route to go .. and yes I will DEF have to up my calorie intake on the days where I can fit in two workouts. Right now I do insanity mon-sat (with a "recovery" workout thursday) So potentially add in my second workout mon-wed-fri with some weight training?
@jbucci: I like that idea of mixing in cardio in on resistance days..
@missybeth thanks! I have that dvd maybe I should break it out again
@barbiex3: OMG bodyrock.tv looks intense! she looks ridiculous hah But I will def check that out soon! Do you use any equipment for those workouts?0 -

for some of them you do, but you can browse through and find some of them without. I'd say 1/3 of them don't require equpt.0
