Needing a little bit of advice on achieving my goal weight in a certain amount of time.. I've got 11 weeks until I leave home and head back to University, and I want to have pretty much achieved my target weight for then! So from my current weight 187, to my target weight 154, I worked out in 11 weeks I would have to loose around 3.3 pounds to achieve this. I've already lost 7 pounds in 2 and a half weeks, but I don't know if that's a sensible target to loose each week?

Any advice/tips would be very much appreciated! Thanks guys! :)

That is so agressive. You can up your excerise and not eat those calories you burned and that would help loads.

you can lose that amount of weight but it really isn't healthy for you and you probably won't keep it off once you return to school. If you try to do 2-2.5 lbs a week between a good exercise program and healthy eating you could continue to lose once you get back to school. Get the good habits into your routine and then work them into your schedule at school.

You don't want to get sick before going back!

Learning takes a good diet, exercise and the correct amount of rest.

    Good luck!

:flowerforyou: It is easy in the beginning...but it really does slow down. I am 66 days in and have lost 20. I find I stay pretty much the same all week then drop a pound ...then stay the same all week ...so it comes out to 1 pound a week.

Of course I don't really exercise like others do so you may be able to accomplish your goal if you really get all out exercising.

    good luck to you!

No, 3.3 pounds per week is neither realistiic nor healthy for the amount you have to lose. Much of what you lost in the first 2 weeks is water, hence the great number. A realistiic amount is 1-2 pounds per week, which will still require you to be really good about what you eat, and will require you to exercise. Cut out all the processed foods, no junk or alcohol, and eat a balanced diet of lean protein, fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains (in moderation), and drink plenty of water. I'm not sure what MFP has given you as a target number of calories, but make sure you don't go below 1200. If you do all that, you probably won't be at 154, but you will have lost enough to look and feel a lot better when you go back to university.

    Good luck!

was waiting for some one to jump in. first 3.3 lbs a week is not healthy. this site is for people to get healthy and lose weight in a safwe manner. lower yyour goal to 2 lbs a week and exercise everyday and you can do it. it would be better to lose 1 lb a week then you would have a better chance of keeping it off.

Thanks everyone! :) I thought it wasn't realistic or sensible, but new to dieting, I just wanted some advice!! :)
I will definitely be sensible, carry on eating healthy and keep up the exercise! :)
  • I agree with everyones comments that it's not healthy or maintainable. Being a student myself I know how easy it is to put on weight when stressed and short on time for exercise. You need to do a lifestyle change....in order to keep the weight off once you start back at school. The weight might come off slower but you'll be more likely to keep it off. Good luck:)

Per my dietician, weight loss should average per week about 1% of your weight, so it changes as you lose weight. At 187 you should loose about 1.8 pounds per week, and so forth....hope this helps.:flowerforyou:
