A lot of the major chain restaurants will have their nutrition facts posted on their websites, so that's a place to start :)
  • Look up the calories on foods at the restuarant you are going to and plan your order!

Most larger restaurants will have an online menu with nutritional information. That's my safe bet before I go out to eat. Just check out what you could order before you even get to the restaurant.

Also, be careful with the salads, I once went out, had a salad, just to come home and find out that the salad was 1000 calorie :D:D:D Learned that lesson the hard way... :)

Depends on where you're going. :) I would get something from a low-cal menu (like from Applebee's for example) or something from the kid's menu. Kid's menu are great because I can have french fries and.. Oh, I dunno.. popcorn shrimp for around 600 calories. Makes me feel like I'm cheating when I'm really not. (But, if your such a great day with veggies and fruits and clean eating, I doubt you'll want to be eating something fried for dinner. Hahaha.)

I mean... French fries = bad. Eat a salad!! :) Veggies, veggies, veggies. Grilled chicken, hold the flavor. LOL. Kidding. Enjoy yourself!

Constant battle for me too... You could skip appetisers, have a smaller portion, switch soda/ alcohol for water, pass on dressings, cheese etc, eat veggies or fish/ grilled White meat? Fruit for dessert or a refreshing sorbet ?

Some places offer healthy choices that are still delicious. I love Applebees' asiago peppercorn steak and usually get double veggies. Only 365 calories!

Don't go to a buffet! Ask for a smaller portion. Eat slow

Whatever u do- dont go in STARVING.....eat a protein snack beforehand(cheese, almonds, etc.) and lots of water so you will keep your appetite in check, and like PP said, check online menus ahead of time and create a plan of action&stick with it:) You can DO it!

I tend to go for a small 6oz sirloin steak with a plain baked potato with sour cream on the side so I can add 1 tbs and veggies when we go out to dinner. That way the food is pretty basic which helps with the large quantity of sodium in most restaurant dishes. But if I want something else I just try to plan my day to fit in whatever I plan to have.

I've found even at buffets as long as I go for smaller portions... go for the healthier options on the buffet and lots of water or unsweet tea to drink... I went to Chinese a couple weeks ago just knowing I was going to blow it for the day... then when I got there I stuck to my plan filled up on the steamed veggies with chicken first... ate a spoonful of fried rice, I love crab ragoons but limited myself to one... and limited myself to one egg roll and since I love sushi ate a few pieces of that finished with fruits for my desert some fresh straberries and some pineapple. The earlier part of the day I had watched my intake and managed to stay within my calories, fat and carbs for the day.

that's what I do! I'll eat a little something before going chug water on the way... that way I'm not overly hungry when i get there and want to eat something big and full of carbs/fat/calories... It's easier to choose healthier option and eat less if you're not starving!

It's simply fantastic! I don't feel like I'm losing out on ANYTHING by getting it over the chicken tenders and burgers I used to love there.
