I just found a half training program that is minutes-based and the most I run is 100 minutes. My last half was 194 minutes, i was WAY under trained and had to walk from pretty much the 4 mile mark due to an IT band injury. My goal is to finish in 2:45 (150 min) is 100 min enough for a long run, or should i just see what kind of mileage that puts me at? I really hope this made sense.

im new to running, doing my first half in august so interested in the replies you get, but I have been advised to do at least one run close to the full distance so you have a really good idea of how your body is going to go with it and help you set your pace etc

I used Galloways Marathon Training Program when I ran my first 1/2 and full Marathons. I don't see how a time based schedule will work out that great. I would think you have to build your base mileage, not just run for x number of minutes. It will be interesting to see the results, please update this post after your race, or if you decide on a different program.

For most of your runs time based is fine, and maybe best, since the training effect is based upon stresses applied to the body for periods of time. Mileage is incidental.

However, for at least a couple of the long runs you probably should go distance based so you have covered the HM distance in training.
