Is anyone doing or following the South Beach Diet? I just checked out the audio book from my library just to listen to it as I'm curious about it. Anyone trying or tried it? Liked it? Disliked it?

I did the diet a year ago and I lost about 9 pounds in the first 2-3 weeks. I found out (on that diet) that I am allergic to wheat so whole wheat was not working for me. I got off it after that. Also you will get SO SICK of eggs! It works, but I don't know that it's the best diet to do.0

Ok thank you for your advice! I just was looking at my stats on my nutrition part and I do great on protein, fats, and what not, but carbs I always get too close or some days I go over. The bulk of my carbs some from like my cereal (Kashi) and my low calorie whole wheat bread. Some of the fruits I eat as well. And it just messes me up, I keep thinking fruit is good for you but sometimes its a lot of carbs! So is it ok or not? I keep thinking am I causing my insulin levels to be out of whack from my carb intake???0

3 years ago I lost 40 lbs in 3 months on the South Beach. I LOVED IT!! I am a weenie, and I really enjoyed the meal plans making the decision for me. It's all laid out for you, day by day and week by week.
The downfall, my wife and I go sooooo sick of eggs, like mechanicmom, and chicken! It wasn't so bad for me since I eat seafood and many of the poultry recipes can be substituted with fish/shrimp. I am also a little more "brave" when it comes to trying new things....like "mashed potatoes" made from cauliflower.
I say, give it a try! Especially if you struggle with carbs like I do. With the knowledge base, you can always modify the South Beach to your needs and tastes.
Best wishes!!0 -
too many rules for me. I think it works for some people, but nothing easier than eating right and exercising to lose weight0

I agree w/ JohnnyP. I lost about 40# to start with w/ the SBD. It really made me realize how many carbs (and not healthy ones!) that I was eating and how little protein and good fats. It was a very good tool for me. I don't really follow it anymore, but I do stick to the principles of good carbs, lean protein, and good fats. Good luck!
Oh, and when I started it (almost 4 yrs ago) there weren't all of the SBD products that you could buy at the store!!! I think they're making some good money on all of those products!
