4 Weeks In...

I never formarly introduced myself of here. I am a 27 year old mother of 2 amazing children: my five year old son Devon and my 10 month old daughter Camryn. I am coming up on my 6 year anniversary with my husband in October.
As of today my husband and I have been on MFP for exactly 4 weeks.
Since I've had my second child 10 months ago, I have been slow to shed the excess baby weight. I wanted to wait a few months because I was breastfeeding. My husband had been carrying around some extra weight as well, and he decided enough was enough. I decided to jump on board a little earlier than I had anticipated so we could both start together.
So, starting I was 164 lbs. at 5'7". I put myself on the slow 1 lb. per week plan because I wanted to make sure I was still getting enough calories not to inhibit my lactation. I consistently ate around 1500-1600 calories and rarely exercised. I plan to kick in my exercise starting today. I am excited for that!
Today I weighed in at 156, a loss of 8 lbs! I can already see the difference. My baby belly is a lot smaller and my pants are falling off of me. My birthday is in 3 weeks, and I hope to be down to 150 by then. Four weeks after my birthday is my daughter's first birthday, and I hope to be down at 145. My current goal weight is 135, but I want to pack on a little more muscle, too. My goal is to be at this within 4 months, which would put the time frame around mid-October. My 6-year anniversary is October 15th, so I would like to hit the goal by then.
I had an idea in my head about how much to lose and how long it will take, but to actually write it down is different. It makes it more real and makes me want to work harder to achieve these mini-goals. For those out there who don't have mini-goals, I strongly recommend you make some, as well as a long-term goal. Having them helps you create milestones to reach. However, don't beat yourself up or quit if you don't reach them. Just adjust future goals to realistic achievements and put on your game face. There is nobody saying you have to lose weight at a certain rate. You are doing this for you, after all. Just make yourself proud by knowing you are doing your best and keep trying!
For those who are curious, my husband started at 210 and is down to 193. He has lost 17 lbs. on the 2 lbs. per week plan. He has been running about 20 minutes 3 times per week. He only has another 10 lbs to go to be at his goal weight. Then he is going to start beefing up a little. I am very proud of him for doing so well!

Great job... keep up the good work. It's always a little harder to lose the baby weight, but you are making great progress.0
